When in trouble, it's faster to ask an expert
Yesterday
As usual, I was typing into
note from my PC.
I was writing nothing but
nonsense, when
my Mac screen
looked like The Matrix,
with lines
filling the whole screen
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Beep beep beep,
beep beep beep,
beep beep beep,
beep beep beep,
beep beep beep,
beep beep beep.
It went pitch black.
Whaaaaaaaat?!
When I looked up this phenomenon on my iPhone,
the search results showed
“What to do when your Mac makes a beeping warning sound”
came up.
I instinctively tried everything.
After struggling for an hour...
The beeping sound stopped.
The Mac remained pitch black.
“The author of this site eventually
replaced the memory and disk,”
it says.
Is my Mac the same?
No, maybe...
Natsuhabara of Maruyama-san,
let me try contacting him...
Email:
My Mac started beeping
and suddenly went pitch black.
What should I do?
Send ⬆︎
I got a call!
It was from Maruyama-san.
I answered immediately.
“Ah...
I won't know until I take it apart.”
Take it apart?
By taking it apart, you mean
removing the inside of the computer?
"Oh no!
I thought so."
"That's right."
"So, Maruyama-san,
when are you free?"
"I'm going to the hair salon after work tomorrow,
and I'm free after that from around 4 PM
to 5 PM."
In a matter-of-fact tone,
"I'll go pick it up right now."
"Today! How long
do you think it will take to get here?"
"What was the address again?"
"Near the XX Store."
"Oh, I see.
Hmm, I'll be there in about 30 minutes."
"Please do."
"Okay, I'll contact you when I arrive."
Message
"I've arrived."
is displayed
"I'm coming now."
I reply
With my MacBook and
the power supply in hand,
I go to the entrance
"Excuse me,
the PC and power supply are in here."
"Oh, I see.
Well, I'll contact you when it's fixed."
"Please do."
"See ya."
Vroom, they drove off in their car
My MacBook was hospitalized
By the way,
Natsuhabarais supposedly
competing with Akihabara or something like that,
they said
What a ridiculous name
But they are always too conscientious
Three years ago
when I bought this MacBook
my previous PC
had broken down
(I was working on the PC at that time too
The damage from dropping it before caught up with me
and when I opened it, it made a buzzing sound
the connection went bad
and it finally went completely black)
"My computer broke,
I need a new one..."
"Ah, I see.
I have a used MacBook for X amount.
It's in good condition, but the trackpad is a bit stiff."
"Is it really okay to sell it for that cheap!"
"Ah, yeah, it's fine."
"I'll buy it!"
They extracted the data from my broken PC,
put the data on an HD,
installed my old Adobe CC,
and I was able to buy the MacBook
for a price that made me wonder
if it was really okay to be that cheap.
Thanks to them,
my work finished much faster,
and I was nothing but grateful.
Around 4:00 PM today
Message
Thank you for your continued support.
Your computer is fixed.
The memory was broken,
so I replaced it.
How would you like to handle
the handover?
That's fast!
I had assumed it would take
about a week.
It was broken!
Thank you so much.
How much is the repair cost?
If it's anytime from now today,
I'm free.
Where should I go
to pick it up?
That's fine.
I can come over
within an hour.
The memory cost 3,000 yen,
is that
alright with you?
Yes,
that's fine.
Since you even did the repairs,
it's too cheap,
so I'll pay 5,000 yen.
I am humbled.
Thank you very much.🙇♂️
In less than an hour, Mr./Ms. Maruyama
fixed my MacBook and brought it back.
Even when I tried to give them 5,000 yen,
they said, "It's fine, it's fine.
I just changed the memory,
let me know if there are any issues."
saying that,
and only accepted 3,000 yen...
Then they zoomed off in their car.
Thinking about that interaction,
even if I don't know the market rate,
it's too cheap.
Is this okay?
They came to my house to pick up the PC,
fixed it,
and once it was done, they went through the trouble
of delivering it back to my house.
Even though they went through all that effort,
3,000 yen is...
Thanks to them, my MacBook
is running comfortably.
