Reiko Mochizuki Series: The Fiance Sequel 10
Three months after the engagement.
Wedding preparations were going smoothly. The dress was chosen, the venue was booked, and Haruki was restless every day.
“Ninety-two days left.”
“Are you counting?”
“Of course I am.”
He had practically turned into a countdown app.
One such morning.
An invitation arrived at the Mochizuki residence.
The sender was—from overseas.
Soma’s expression stiffened as he opened the envelope.
“...This is troublesome.”
“What is it?”
Reiko peered over.
Written there in beautiful cursive were these words:
To Lady Reiko Kamishiro,
I would very much like to discuss a formal marriage proposal with my son.
Haruki froze.
“...Again?”
Kurosaki burst out laughing.
“You’re popular, aren’t you?”
Ren quietly set down his tea.
“International forces this time, are they?”
The sender was the Duke of Alphonse, one of Europe’s most prestigious noble families.
Moreover, the son was a young marquis, Leonard Alphonse.
“Just turn them down!”
Haruki replied immediately.
However, Soma shook his head.
“The Kamishiro and Alphonse families have had a long-standing friendly relationship. We cannot simply dismiss them.”
“What a troublesome family!”
“I fully agree.”
Reiko sighed.
A few days later.
Leonard himself arrived in Japan.
Blonde hair and blue eyes.
190 centimeters tall.
A perfect tailcoat.
Just walking, he looked like a scene from a movie.
“It is an honor to meet you, Lady Reiko.”
He elegantly kissed the back of her hand.
Haruki’s face twitched comically.
“He kissed her.”
“It was her hand.”
Ren corrected him calmly.
Leonard smiled.
“I hear you have a fiancé. However, love knows no borders.”
“Yes, it does!”
Haruki retorted instantly.
Kurosaki laughed, his shoulders shaking.
Leonard gazed at Reiko.
“If you are happy, I shall withdraw.”
Surprisingly, he was a gentleman.
But that night.
Leonard said to Haruki,
“I have only one condition.”
“What is it?”
“A duel with me.”
“I knew it.”
The duel was—fencing.
Haruki despaired.
“Isn’t it boxing?”
“Unfortunately, no.”
Special training began.
Kurosaki was the coach, Ren was the strategist, and Soma was the mental mentor.
For some reason, his former rivals were cooperating with all their might.
And then, the day of the decisive battle.
Haruki was cleanly scored upon.
It was fifteen seconds into the match.
“That was fast!”
However, Leonard lowered his sword.
“That is enough.”
“Huh?”
“There was no hesitation in your eyes.”
He reached out a hand to Haruki.
“Please take care of Reiko.”
Haruki gripped that hand firmly.
And so, the assassin from abroad departed.
Reiko laughed, exasperated.
“Really, one after another.”
Haruki pulled her into an embrace.
“I won’t let you go to anyone else.”
“Please do.”
...Just then.
The butler brought in a new envelope.
Haruki turned pale.
“Again?”
Reiko opened it.
Inside was a single sheet of paper.
It read—
We would like to discuss the entertainment for the wedding ceremony.
Kurosaki, Kujo, Soma Kamishiro
Haruki breathed a sigh of relief.
“Oh, it’s just that.”
Kurosaki smiled menacingly.
“Don’t be so quick to relax.”
On the day of the wedding, he would learn the meaning of those words.
