[NOTE Series | Parent's Future Strategy Newsletter] Vol. 11: A Parent's Perspective on Expanding a Child's Options | How the Future Expands Through English x Experience
Hello!
This is the NEXT2035 Editorial Department.
In last week's newsletter, we discussed
"why there is a difference in how the future expands even when learning English in the same way."

This time, we will take that content a step further and organize our thoughts on
the "true foundation" children need in the coming era.
In this article, we will share:
✅ Why being able to speak English is not enough
✅ The three common traits
of children who connect with opportunities ✅ How to prepare your mindset at home starting now
We will share these based on our actual experience in the field.
This content is for those who feel a sense of unease, thinking, "Even though I'm working hard, I don't feel like it's leading to the future."
■ There are cases where even if you can speak English, your future does not expand
As we touched upon in last week's newsletter, being able to speak English definitely expands your world.
In fact, being able to speak English often leads to many
experiences and opportunities.
On the other hand, I have seen many cases where, even with the same English ability, it does not lead to anything further.
Where does this difference come from?
Here lies a point often overlooked in current education.
■ The difference lies in "the power beyond that"
What I feel in the field is that, more than English itself, it is the difference in
the power that lies beyond it.
In fact, children who connect with opportunities all share the following three traits.
① The ability to interact with people
The ability not just to speak, but to build relationships with others.
② Cultural understanding
The ability to understand the values and assumptions behind the language.
3. Your own expertise
A core that makes others think, "I want to ask this person."
When these three things come together,
English changes from "just a skill" to
"a tool to expand the future".
■ Why "experience" becomes important
These abilities are not easily acquired through desk study alone.
They are built up through interacting with people,
failing, not going well,
and trial and error.
In other words,
👉 how much you have experienced
becomes the difference itself.
That is why now is an era where
not only "what you learn" but
"what kind of experiences you are having" is important.
■ A perspective to have as a parent
What is important here is the parent's perspective.
If you focus only on "making them able to speak English,"
it inevitably becomes skill-oriented.
Instead,
💡 What kind of people are they interacting with?
💡 What kind of environment are they in?
💡 What kind of experiences are they having?

By being conscious of this,
the way a child's future expands will change significantly.
■ A simple first step you can take now
So, where should you start?
You don't need to do anything special.
First of all,
👉 Increase experiences of interacting with the outside world, even if they are small
Encountering different values
Interacting with people you don't know
Communicating in your own words
These building blocks will lead to future choices.
■ Summary
In the coming era,
it is not about whether you can speak English, but what you can do using English.
And the foundation for that is
experience.
So that children can have the power to choose and expand their own paths in the future,
what kind of experiences are they gaining now?
I feel that focusing on this is very important in future education.
And next time,
based on what I have shared this time,
✅ specifically 'where to start'
✅ simple steps you can take at home
I plan to deliver more practical information on this.
I will continue to share the rest of this on this NOTE,
