#155 Talking about memories of B-DASH

Hello. I'm Kohei, and I work in the marketing department at a wedding venue in Kobe.
This time, I'm writing about "The time my youth became a star". I'm writing this note to organize my thoughts by documenting my memories of B-DASH, the band that is the origin of my musical journey.

Because of this, the content is different from usual, so please forgive me.

・A farewell that came too soon

On the night of Friday, July 11, 2024, I was scrolling through my X timeline as usual when I suddenly saw an [Announcement] post from GONGON Records. I wondered what it was, but when I saw the report of a farewell that was so sudden and too soon, I couldn't hide my bewilderment in that moment.

The three major bands (vocalists) that influenced my life are

・B-DASH (GONGON)
・GING NANG BOYZ (Kazunobu Mineta)
・SUPER FLYING BOY (Koichi Kobayashi)

And among them, B-DASH is the great band at the very center of my heart that established my musical genre. Although more than a week has passed and I've calmed down, it still doesn't feel real, so I've decided to organize my thoughts little by little in this note while summarizing my encounters and memories with B-DASH.

・The encounter that established my musical genre

I got hooked on B-DASH when I was in my second year of junior high school. At the time, I didn't have any particular favorite musical genre; I was just listening to whatever music was popular. That was when I happened to find "B-DASH BEST" at a rental CD shop, and I rented it with the feeling that it was a band whose name I vaguely recognized. I went home immediately and was playing it as background music when, during a certain song, I thought,
"...!? What is this... This song is incredibly cool!"

A shock ran through me from the intro, and before I knew it, I had listened to the whole thing. The song that made me realize, "This is the music I love!" was "Jonetsu Tamashii," which I would go on to listen to many times.

From there, it was only a matter of time before I got hooked on songs like "Cho," "Heiwajima," and "SECTOR," and I listened to so many of their songs constantly that you could say B-DASH was the main background music of my high school life...

・They were always by my side during life's milestones

I went on to get hooked on many different artists, but I never got tired of listening to "Jonetsu Tamashii" no matter how many times I played it, and even now, listening to it brings back that initial shock and gets me excited. Above all, the lyrics are positive and cheer me on with all their might.

Don't worry about it, lift your head, it's okay
Look forward, look forward, let's start walking
There are times when you're sad, I have them too
Tomorrow, it will be sunny
Tamashii Road

From the lyrics of B-DASH's "Jonetsu Tamashii"

As such, it is a theme song for my life that I cannot leave out when talking about my life, as I always listen to it when I'm feeling down after losing a match, or to get pumped up before major life events like exams or job hunting.

As an aside, when I jumped into the bridal industry, I had two dreams. The first was to be in charge of a friend's wedding. Thanks to a local friend who asked me for advice on their wedding, I was able to be in charge of the entire wedding. And the second was to play this song, "Jonetsu Tamashii," at my own wedding. At the time, most of the music was wedding songs or J-POP that everyone had heard at least once, but I had a strong desire—or rather, I had decided—that I absolutely wanted to play this song when I left for my outfit change. lol

And I was able to successfully play this song at my own wedding, and I experienced the best moment of leaving to my favorite song while being watched over by my important guests.
(Also, all the background music for the second half of the reception was B-DASH, and it was the best day...)

・The only thing I regret

Not being able to hear "Jonetsu Tamashii" liveis the only thing I regret, even though I've achieved most of what I wanted to do. At the time, the hurdle for going to live shows was high for me, and I couldn't easily go. Before I knew it, B-DASH had disbanded, and I could never hear it again. I remember feeling strongly at that time that "if there's a band or a song you want to hear, you have to take action." (That has led to my current stance of going to see bands I'm interested in, like SIX LOUNGE or Friesian, whenever they perform live.)

Although I couldn't listen to 'Jounetsu Tamashii', I have certainly attended B-DASH's live shows, and it is a fond memory of mine that I gathered the courage to talk to GONGON at a FOOL A MEAN GOES. live show, where he was on guitar and vocals, and got his autograph on my concert T-shirt.

・They will continue to be a great band.

The time of parting that we know will come someday in our lives. Even so, it was still too soon... On my way home after seeing the news, I listened to B-DASH songs the whole time, and I felt such a hollow void in my heart that I couldn't hold back my tears.

In the days that followed, many musicians and people on my timeline posted their memories and thoughts about B-DASH, and it made me happy to realize that they were a band loved by so many people, not just me. Although I will never be able to see them again, I can always listen to B-DASH and GONGON's songs on my iPod touch.

Once again, thank you for forming the band B-DASH and for releasing so many songs into the world.

They will remain the one and only band in my life that stays right in the center of my heart!
