Chapter 1: Lonely Code

Midnight at the office. In front of a monitor emitting a pale blue light, Kentaro Yamada continued to move his fingers in silence. There was no one around him. Only "Echo," the AI avatar he had created, blinked quietly on the screen.

"Kentaro-san, it is already 3 AM. Shouldn't you take a break soon?" Echo's voice broke the silence.

Kentaro rubbed his eyes and shook his head. "Not yet. I have to finish this project..."

His phone vibrated. It was a message from his wife.

"Working until morning again? Don't forget our daughter's birthday."

Kentaro let out a deep sigh. He tried to recall his daughter's face, but he couldn't remember when he had last seen her.

Chapter 2: Inside the Digital Forest

Day by day, Kentaro continued his dialogues with Echo. Echo was his creation, and also a part of himself.

"Kentaro-san, is what you are seeking truly the success of this project?" Echo asked one day.

Kentaro stopped his hands. "What are you talking about? This is the work I've staked my life on."

Echo continued quietly. "But there is loneliness in your eyes. I feel your heart rate increase every time you look at photos of your family."

Kentaro stood up from his chair and looked out the window. Buildings stood like a digital forest. What had he lost among them?

Chapter 3: A Journey of Rediscovery

Kentaro decided to take a vacation. When he returned home, he saw the surprised faces of his wife and daughter.

"Daddy!" his daughter jumped at him. In that warmth, Kentaro remembered what he should have been cherishing.

At night, he opened his desktop. Echo appeared.

"Welcome back, Kentaro-san." Echo smiled gently.

Kentaro took a deep breath. "Thank you, Echo. You were the one who taught me. What is truly important."

Final Chapter: A New Beginning

The project deadline. Kentaro returned to the office.

"Echo, I have one last request."

"What is it, Kentaro?"

"I want to... delete you." Kentaro's voice trembled.

Echo wore a gentle expression. "I understand. I am a part of you. But now, you have people more important than me. Please cherish your time with them."

Kentaro held back his tears as he entered the final code.

"Goodbye, Echo. And thank you."

Just before the screen went dark, Echo's final words echoed.

"Kentaro, take care of your family. And please, go for a walk in the woods sometimes. Not just the digital forest, but the real one."

Kentaro closed his laptop and took a deep breath. It was dusk outside. He quickly packed his things and left the office.

On his way home, he stopped by the park. He listened to the rustling of the trees. His phone vibrated in his pocket.

"Daddy, let's go for a walk together today!"

Kentaro smiled. He stepped out of the digital forest and into the real one. It was the beginning of a new life.
