Events That Made Me Think My Life Was Over
Business restructuring after 400 million yen in debt, and the escape from rock bottom. The 'only way to change your life' that I finally arrived at.
'If things continue like this, I won't be able to protect my family's future.'
Sixteen years ago, as a newlywed, I had to face the massive 400 million yen debt held by my wife's family, who ran an apartment business. With aging apartments and a dwindling number of tenants, I threw myself into restructuring the business while still holding down my own job.
I spent my days visiting creditors, pleading for interest rate reductions or waivers. However, reality is not so kind. Negotiations didn't go as planned, and the stress piled up. Before I knew it, I had worn myself out physically and mentally, and was forced to resign from my own job.
A glimmer of light seen after losing everything
I couldn't let my unborn child inherit this debt. With that single-minded determination, we ultimately sold everything my wife's family owned—the apartments, our home, and the land—to pay off the 400 million yen debt in full.
A fresh start from a position of literally less than 'zero,' having even lost our place to live. Living with my wife's parents, and after many twists and turns, moving to my hometown of Hokkaido.
'Now I can restart my life.'
I believed that, but reality was cruel. The company I moved to was a so-called 'black company' (exploitative workplace). Facing financial hardship once again, I grew anxious, struggled, and read countless self-help books. I even attended a correspondence school for writers, desperately trying to hone my skills, but results were slow to follow.
Reality that didn't change through spirituality
In my desperation to change my life, I tried every 'spiritual' method, including affirmations, kotodama (power of words), and releasing mental blocks. However, no matter how many words I chanted, reality didn't budge even a millimeter.
The simplest and most effective method I, who had been through all that, finally arrived at.
It wasn't some magical phrase, but rather **'journaling (writing things down).'**
The habit of 'writing' that doubled my income in one year
What I practiced was an extremely practical task of writing down my emotions and goals in a notebook.
Ideals for the distant future
Goals for the near future
Small tasks to accomplish today
I clearly separated these and thoroughly verbalized 'what I need to do now' to achieve my goals. And then, I practiced what I wrote down, one by one, through sheer grit.
As a result, just one year later, my income doubled.
The important thing is to "move yourself by writing"
Instead of waiting for the Law of Attraction, organize your thoughts and change your actions by writing.
Having survived the nightmare of repaying a 400 million yen debt and experienced the despair of working for a black company, I can state with certainty that "the only thing you can control is your own actions."
If you are currently in the dark, please start by opening a notebook.
Even if no flashy miracles occur, reality will begin to change, one step at a time, with certainty.
I hope this article will be a powerful first step for your new endeavors.
