Giving Form to Light: A Record of Thoughts and Journeys Before a Work is Born
While I post finished photos on social media,
here I write about the 'time before it becomes a work.'
What kind of places, what kind of thoughts, and what kind of emotions led me to press the shutter?
I want to put each step of that process into words and leave it behind.
A Re-introduction
On weekdays, I design systems in the IT field, and on weekends, I chase light in the mountains and by the sea. My name is Negi.
At first, I just wanted to take beautiful pictures of stars.
However, after shooting for several years,
I began to think about 'what beauty is' and 'what I want to convey through photography.'
I believe that is just as important a 'process of expression' as choosing a location or deciding on a composition.
In this note, I will write about those thoughts, trial and error,
and the record of my small journeys until I give form to light.
I have left my previous self-introduction note here.
The kind of photos I take

From the starry sky to the landscape, walking the boundary
What I first became obsessed with was the starry sky at night.
I would drive to avoid light pollution and stand alone in the darkness.
When the hustle and bustle of the city faded and I saw the river of stars spreading overhead,
I felt from the bottom of my heart, 'I want to give form to this emotion of seeing this world.'
Before I knew it, the starry sky alone was no longer enough.
Mist floating at dawn, light after the rain, the stillness of a lake.
I began to be moved in the same way by that moment when the sky and the earth slowly blend together.
Shooting and facing it
For now, I continue to take photos while holding down a job.
I am not working as a professional, but I face each and every work as seriously as I can.
I make repeated expeditions during breaks from work and on holidays,
waiting for the silence before dawn or the moments wrapped in mist.
The constraint of having to be creative while shooting within limited time
may be what has shaped my style.
I hope to become more deeply involved in the world of photography someday.
To that end, I am building up what I can do little by little.

Winning is not my goal, but rather an opportunity to test my work on the same stage as photographers from around the world.
Each time, it gives me a chance to re-examine my own expression.
What I want to convey on note
On note, I write more about the 'thoughts' and 'realizations' behind the photos than the photos themselves.
For example—
For example—
The flow of time I feel when photographing stars
How I predict fog and engage with the weather
The 'world view of photography' seen through contests
The emotions poured into a single piece of work
In free articles, I write about my mindset and stories, while in paid articles, I include my actual actions at the shooting location and the technical background.
Moving forward
I am thinking of gradually resuming interactions in the comment section as well.
I received many comments on my previous self-introduction note, but because the system notified everyone who commented whenever a new comment was posted, I couldn't interact very actively.
Now that a reply function has been implemented, I can converse with peace of mind.
If you like stories about stars, fog, and landscapes,
please feel free to leave a word.
Any words you share become energy for my next shoot.
Conclusion
I will continue to leave records here, little by little, of the thoughts and journeys that occur while I am in the process of giving shape to light, before it becomes a finished work.
