Values differ from person to person

Yesterday, I took my father to an electronics store to switch his internet service provider.

The cashback amount was 230,000 yen.
I was excited, thinking, "I can buy some appliances and do something nice for my parents."😆
But my father just sighed, saying, "What a hassle..."😇

It's true that the process at the store took half a day, and it will take another half day later to be present for the installation.

It's no wonder he felt like, "Why does this take so much time?"😅
From my perspective, being able to use fiber-optic internet for 500 yen for half a year is like a revolution.

With a little knowledge and initiative, you can make your internet costs effectively zero and even buy a TV or refrigerator every year.

I'm screaming in my heart, "It's such a waste not to do it!"🥲
But from my father's point of view, he had been paying 8,000 yen every month to eo Hikari for 10 years, and perhaps stability was more important to him.🥹

In total over 10 years, that's about 1 million yen just for internet.

For me, I'd want to retort, "Wait, that's a down payment on a car!" but my father doesn't seem to care much.😔
In fact, he even says, "Appliances don't break every year anyway, so I don't know what I'd do with the cashback."😭

(Honestly, I kind of get that. If a washing machine broke every year, that would be a horror story in itself.😅)
In the end, while for me it was a sense of achievement that I "saved 200,000 yen!"

for my father, it might have just been "being put through unnecessary trouble."😔
Even with the same event, there are those who are happy and those who are not.

Whether or not you find value in saving money is different for everyone.
In the end, it was decided that Mom would get another electric bicycle, haha.

That's why I think:

Values aren't something to be forced on others,
but something to accept as "different."🤔
