Roles, Opportunities, and the Laws of Growth.
Lately, I have been deeply feeling that roles shape people. I am grateful that this applies to me, and I also see the growth of the members around me every day.
I cannot help but feel the importance of assigning roles and entrusting tasks to others.
By trying things out, you understand the big picture and realize that things were actually not as big a deal as you had thought. Once you experience that a few times, you become able to apply that to other things as well... whether you call it adaptation or growth.
A year has passed in the blink of an eye since I returned from childcare leave. My brain, which had been resting for nearly a year, is now fully back in work mode, and I have gotten used to working full-time with a staggered schedule starting 45 minutes earlier. (I am truly grateful to the members of my company.)
Just before finishing my childcare leave, I wrote this note in a rush right after a session with my coach, and it already feels nostalgic.
Feeling this nostalgia after a few months and sensing the certainty in what I am working on now compared to then, I thought it was good that I left this note behind. I wrote this current note while telling my past self, 'good job.'
In 2018, the company transitioned to a holding company structure, and for the past few years, we have operated with HR functions at the holding company level, while recruitment and development were handled by each individual subsidiary.
Last year, just as I happened to be returning to work, there was a slight change in the structure, and both recruitment and development, along with the members and roles, were consolidated under the holding company.
Currently, I have also been transferred to the holding company's HR department on the organizational chart, and I am in charge of recruitment and development while being seconded to an individual subsidiary.
Originally, I belonged to an 'individual subsidiary' that housed more than half of the members within the holding company, so the number of people I covered was not small. Even so, there is a big difference between belonging to a single operating company and belonging to the holding company.
That is another thing I have been able to adapt to while not knowing much, and I am glad I got to learn about it.
I am grateful for the roles and opportunities.
That is all there is to it.
If there is a law to growth, it is surely this: take it as an opportunity, try it out, and see it through until you get a result.
There is no such thing as failure; it is 'growth' in the sense that you found out that a certain method doesn't work, doesn't get through, or doesn't lead to change, and that can also be said to be one step closer to success.
I want to break free from the illusion that it is faster to do things myself or that breaking down tasks and communicating them accurately is a hassle, and instead be on the side that creates opportunities rather than the side that takes them away.
I want to take this to heart once again and continue to pursue my ideals.
I chose the cover image with the image of us supporting each other, and the idea that having opportunities allows us to connect with the next piece.
