Women have too many roles
I recently watched a YouTube video.
It was about a prefecture working together to implement various initiatives to address the declining birthrate.
In it, the words of one mother really struck a chord with me.

“What I feel as a mother is that modern women are given far too many roles.
It’s not just about being a mother; it’s about being a professional, a wife, and a daughter as well.
Within a 24-hour day, women are juggling various roles: raising children, going to work to earn money, spending time with their spouse, and sometimes even caring for their parents.
Sometimes, my days are so dizzying and pass by so quickly that I almost forget who I am as a person without any titles.
Child-rearing doesn’t always go as planned. Honestly, there are many times when I find it tough.
But children are irreplaceable beings who make you realize that you are a precious person yourself.
I hope that we can all work together to cherish the children who will carry the future.”
The woman was speaking while holding back tears, and as I watched, I couldn't help but cry as well.
Because I understand what she wanted to say all too well.
Of course, it’s not limited to women; I believe men also carry various roles at work and at home.
But in reality, isn't it the case that women still carry more roles within the home?
Playing many roles in a single day and having to complete so many tasks.
This is something I didn't understand until I became a mother myself.
In the midst of these dizzying days,
I want to cherish my child who needs me even more
I want to cherish myself more, too
So, what should I do?
I wish it were easier to rely on various places for help
I wish we could have a kinder society where people feel positive about wanting to give birth to and raise children
I believe this cannot be achieved by leaving it solely to the government, but only if each and every one of us cooperates.
As a writer, as a mother, and as a woman, what can I do?
It was an event that gave me the opportunity to think about things in that way.😌
