Writing everything from booking a female-oriented service to the day of the appointment.
"How do I make a reservation?"
This is in the top three things I get asked first.
You've become interested in female-oriented services, looked up therapists, and have a vague understanding of the differences between courses.
But if the process from booking to the actual day is unclear, that's where you get stuck.
I understand. I'm the type who can't press the order button when making an expensive purchase on a site other than Amazon if I don't know the "process until it arrives."
……That's a plain analogy. But I think that's what it feels like.
In this article, I will write down everything from the moment you contact me until the day is over.
Whether it's a hotel course or a date course, the initial entry point is the same.
If you know what will happen next, the fear will decrease just a little. Even if it doesn't go to zero, the "fear of the unknown" will decrease. That is what I believe.
It starts with LINE
The entry point for booking is LINE.
It starts with you sending a "Hello" to my official LINE account.
"I'm a first-timer" is fine, and "I'm a little curious" is also fine. You don't need any set phrases or formal greetings.
Some people freeze up because they don't know what to send, but I wrote about that in an article called For those who don't know what to send in their first LINE message, so if you'd like, you can read that first.
Once the LINE message arrives, I will reply.
We don't jump straight into scheduling here. First, I ask things like this:
"Is this your first time using a female-oriented service?"
"Do you have any concerns or anxieties?"
"Are you interested in the date course or the hotel course?"
I won't rush you. Some people take a whole day to exchange messages, and some people have gaps of several days.
Some people even tell me, "Maybe it's still too early for me."
That's perfectly fine. I won't delete the messages, and it's okay for you to come back whenever you're ready.
Deciding on a date
Once we reach the point in our conversation where you say, "Okay, I'd like to book you," we will move on to discussing the date.
Since I only work 2 to 3 days a month, my availability is quite limited.
Even if you ask for "next Saturday," I might not be free, or it might be 2 to 3 weeks away. This is something I have to be honest about.
Once the date is set, you will need to make an official reservation through Roka's official LINE account.
The only information required is as follows:
Reservation name (it doesn't have to be your real name)
Date and time
Meeting place
Course
They will ask for your phone number as an ID, but the shop will not call you.
About the counseling sheet
When you make a reservation, you will be asked, "Would you like a counseling sheet?"
This is a sheet used to communicate your preferences or things you'd rather avoid via LINE in advance.
Things like "there are places I don't want to be touched," "no kissing," or "I'm not good at conversation."
It is a system that allows you to convey these things in writing beforehand rather than in person.
I think it's easier to use it, as there are things that might be hard to say on the spot. Of course, it's fine if you don't need it.
On the day
Meeting up
On the day, we will meet at the pre-arranged location. It is usually in front of a station ticket gate or a cafe.
We exchange messages right before meeting, like 'I'm wearing a gray shirt.' We're both a little nervous.
In my case, I'm often told I'm more of a 'normal person' than the image people have. I'm just a normal person.
For a hotel course, we head to the hotel together from here.
There are patterns where I look up a few hotels in advance, or the client checks in first and waits in the room.
When a client enters the hotel first, we call it 'saki-hairi' (entering first).
For a date course, we head straight to a meal or a cafe.
Flow of a hotel course
Once we enter the room, we first put down our bags and talk for a bit.
This is the counseling time.
For those who sent a counseling sheet in advance, I check the contents and ask, 'Has anything changed?'
For those who haven't submitted a sheet, I conduct the hearing here.
Some people have specific requests for what they want today, while others say, 'Honestly, I have no idea.' Either is fine.
After that, the client takes a shower first, and then I borrow the shower.
When starting the treatment, I will let you know before I begin. I always confirm before touching. If you tell me to stop somewhere, I will stop.
This is a matter of course, but I am writing it explicitly because many people are anxious, wondering if it's really okay to say so.
After the treatment, we take a bath, talk a little, get ready, and then part ways.
Hotel courses are 2 or 3 hours long. The count starts from the moment the therapist enters the hotel room.
Flow of a date course
In the case of a date course, we meet up and then head out directly.
Having lunch, going to a cafe, or taking a walk. What we do is up to you.
You can hold hands, and you can link arms. But there is nothing you 'have to' do.
I have written about the details of the date course in another article, so I will just cover the flow here.
Money matters and the way home
Payment on the day is in cash.
For a hotel course, it is the course fee + transportation expenses + hotel costs.
For a date course, it is the course fee + transportation expenses + meal costs (paid by the customer).
I have been asked, 'Will I be charged for extra options later?' but the answer is no. You will not be charged anything other than the amount communicated in advance.
I wrote honestly about everything regarding fees in another article. If you want to see the numbers, I think it would be reassuring to read that first.
The way home.
For a hotel course, I will see you off to the nearest station. For a date course, we may part ways on the spot, or we may walk together for a little while before saying goodbye.
After returning home, some people send a message on LINE saying 'Thank you very much.' I also send a message saying 'Thank you for today.'
Some people write their impressions, and some just send a single stamp. Either is fine.
After that, we might talk about the next booking, or we might not. Sometimes people say 'I'll contact you again' and then reach out six months later. That is perfectly fine.
Similarities to my main job in system design
This is a bit of a digression, but there was a time when I worked in system design for my main job.
With systems, users feel anxious if they cannot predict 'what will happen next.' No one wants to touch a screen where they don't know what will happen when they press a button.
The reason I decided to write down the entire booking flow probably stems from that feeling.
If you know what will happen next, the fear decreases. Even if it doesn't reach zero, the 'fear of the unknown' is reduced.
If you are worried about what to prepare before the day, I have also written an article called For those going for the first time tomorrow. Read this for belongings and attire.. It is like a checklist before you head out.
I hope this article serves that purpose.
I have also prepared a page that summarizes the booking process, contact information, and my profile.
