[Review] How installing a FlexiSpot E7 Pro skyrocketed my work efficiency and quality of life
To you who are struggling to choose a desk
This is an article I would like everyone to read if you are wondering whether to buy an electric height-adjustable desk, or if you are thinking, "What is a standing desk actually like?"
In this article, I will introduce my own real before-and-after, from my worries before installation to the deciding factors for my purchase and the changes I experienced after actually using it.
Recap of the previous post
Last time, I wrote about the problem of there being so many types of electric height-adjustable desks, including FlexiSpot, that I didn't know what to choose. If you haven't read it yet, I think reading that first will help you understand the background better.
[Before] The desk I used to use and its limitations

I was using a study desk from a manufacturer called OJC, which I purchased in March 2019. It was 80cm wide, 60cm deep, and 120cm high, with a self-study room style design featuring side partitions.
It felt quite cramped when I placed a monitor on it, and there wasn't enough space for reading or writing in a notebook. Now that I work from home more often and have started spreading out my computer and documents at the same time, it was clearly too small. I began to feel that my desk environment was becoming a bottleneck for work efficiency. (By the way, this desk is currently not available on Amazon.)
Taking advantage of my move, I decided that "now is the chance to change my desk."
[The desk I purchased] FlexiSpot E7 Pro

The one I purchased this time is the FlexiSpot E7 Pro. The four points I prioritized when choosing a desk were as follows:
Height can be adjusted electrically
Width is 120cm or more
Casters can be attached
Assembly service is available
Furthermore, my budget was around 50,000 to 70,000 yen. The E7 Pro matched these conditions.
The fact that I purchased it during the spring 25% off campaign, allowing me to get it for a much better price than usual, was also a major deciding factor. Additionally, it is traded at a stable price in the second-hand market (such as Mercari), so I felt at ease knowing I could sell it in the future if needed.
Purchase Price (Total: 73,260 yen, tax included)
Desk frame: 46,200 yen
Tabletop (120×60×2.5cm): 10,560 yen
Casters: 4,400 yen
Furniture delivery service (including assembly): 6,600 yen
Shipping: 5,500 yen
[Products I compared] Models I was torn between until the end
The ones I was torn between until the end were the FlexiSpot E7 (standard model) and the Yamazen standing desk.
The Yamazen desk was out of stock on their website with no restock date, so I gave up on it. The E7 was initially part of the campaign, but from late March, the E7 Pro was also included, and since the price difference was only a few thousand yen, I chose the Pro model.
The Pro model has a sturdy C-shaped frame, and its stylish appearance was also a high point for me.
[Assembly and Installation] The convenience of the furniture delivery service
This time, I used the "furniture delivery service." Upon arrival, the delivery staff immediately handled the unpacking, assembly, and installation, and they even took away all the trash. It took about 20 to 30 minutes. It was the perfect service for someone like me who lacked confidence in assembling it myself.
[After] Changes in my life after installation
Since installing the FlexiSpot E7 Pro, my mindset and posture toward desk work have gradually changed.
Previously, even when I got the Apple Watch "stand notification," I often ignored it because standing up felt like a hassle, but now I can naturally incorporate standing as a way to refresh myself.
Currently, I switch the height about 3 to 4 times a day on average, and a major benefit is being able to make fine adjustments depending on whether I am typing, reading, or working on notes.
In particular, being able to change the height precisely even for the same "standing work" has reduced the strain on my shoulders and lower back, and my comfort has improved significantly.
[Items I purchased additionally]
Multi-storage rack (Nitori) 1,490 yen

Desk-side storage rack (Nitori) 1,490 yen

Under-desk storage box (Amazon) 3,080 yen
Attachable drawer (Daiso) 220 yen

Organizing the storage area makes things even more comfortable.
[Pros / Cons / Points to Note]
Pros
Operates more quietly than I imagined
Can memorize heights with automatic memory settings
The desk is spacious, improving work efficiency
Easy to move around thanks to the casters
Cons
The official website does not support installment payments, only lump-sum (Amazon supports installments)
Points to note
You need enough cable length to accommodate the height adjustment, so clever use of storage racks is essential
[Summary] "It was expensive, but I have nothing but satisfaction"
It was an investment of about 70,000 yen, but considering the changes in my quality of life and work efficiency, I actually feel it was cheap.
A desk environment can change your life. This was the best purchase I've made, and it really made me realize that.
I wholeheartedly recommend this desk to anyone who wants to focus on remote work, side projects, studying, or reading.
