The Eternal MASTER KEATON (A Masterpiece Manga)
I first borrowed and read this manga called Master Keaton about 25 years ago.
I knew Naoki Urasawa, but the original story was by someone else.
I remember being truly surprised when I read the content, and it was also the manga that made me realize, 'So this is the kind of history the world has been revolving through without me knowing!'
The protagonist, Taichi Keaton, is an insurance investigator.
I remember very clearly that this was the first time I learned that such a job existed in the world, and I felt like I had become a little bit smarter after reading this manga.
Oxford University, the SAS, the military, historical wars, the Ceausescu era, and so on.
The content was rich with learning, and the protagonist was such a lovable character that I remember reading it with total absorption.
That manga happened to be lined up in a cafe I walked into.
Even though it's already out of print.
What? Master Keaton is here!!!!!
I was so excited, internally. In the cafe.
And I was the only customer.
I picked up the final volume, volume 18, and the two volumes before it, and read them with total absorption. How many years has it been since I last read it?
Reading it, I felt a warmth spread through me.
I was given courage once again.
Thinking that there might be people like this in some corner of this world, of this society, I felt it was a source of hope,
even after re-reading it, I had the same impression.
I think this manga is a true masterpiece.
This story, which involves world history, is worth a look.
It's a manga that acts like medicine when you've lost hope. Though... it's a work with a lot of world history content, which is different from the familiar, fluffy feeling of something like 'Hirayasumi', even if it's similar in some ways.
I love both.
Manga is amazing.
The art, the content, and...
I always think, 'Are they a genius?'
I love it, Master Keaton❤️ Forever.
Thank you for reading today as well♪
If you have the chance, please do read Master Keaton.
By the way, the original author has passed away, so while I long for a sequel, it is also out of print, so I think the places where you can find this manga are limited.
If you have a chance, please try to pick it up.
It is packed with charm.
(Writing it like this, I just thought... maybe I am a fan of this manga...)
