Naomi
Art Writer, Listener, and Author - A person who interviews and conveys stories

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture, currently living in Tokyo.
After studying clothing design and working at Starbucks, in recruitment PR, public relations, and as a Web media director, I became a freelancer.

I plan, interview, write, and edit with a focus on "Art, Design, and Craft," "Museums and Galleries," "Books," "Careers," and "Lifestyle Culture." In addition to publishing on note and Podcast, I produce and issue ZINEs, support the operation of owned media for companies and art galleries, and work as a lecturer and facilitator for writing and art workshops for individuals and corporations.

My range of interests is borderless, from ancient civilizations to emotional technology robots. More than things, events, or places, I enjoy chatting about people's ways of life, roots, turning points, life philosophies, small obsessions, and deep passions.

Services Offered and Estimated Fees

1. Interviews (Photography), Writing, and Editing

Leveraging my approachable personality, strong communication skills, and rhythmic writing style, I strive to convey what needs to be said to the intended audience in a way that resonates, and I summarize it into text.

Focusing on interviews with individuals, I have interviewed and written about a wide range of people, things, and events, including companies, individuals, events, and services, covering their journeys, current initiatives, and future prospects.

I am also happy to participate from the planning meeting stage.
I can handle both edited articles and tie-up articles, whether for print or Web.
Having experience in managing tie-ups and creating advertising menus at a Web media editorial department, I can propose plans and manage progress from a monetization perspective.

Please note that for media outlets, I generally only accept work for signed articles.

[ Estimated Fees (As of April 2024) ]
For both in-person/online[Interview Fee + Text Creation Fee + Actual Expenses]is the total.
*After your inquiry, I will provide a quote based on the necessity of the work and your budget.

・Interview: 18,000 yen + tax per 60 minutes
(Includes preliminary meetings, research, and creation of questionnaires)
・Text Creation: 10,000 yen + tax per 1,000 characters
・Still Photography: Availability and quote provided upon request
・Consulting/Participation in planning meetings: 2,000 yen + tax per 30 minutes
(Offset against work fees if the project is commissioned)
*Actual expenses: Transportation costs exceeding 2,000 yen round trip, accommodation expenses, etc.

Example)
60-minute interview + 3,000-character creation: 18,000 + 30,000 + tax + expenses = 48,000 yen + tax + expenses
90-minute interview + 5,000-character creation: 27,000 + 50,000 + tax + expenses = 77,000 yen + tax + expenses

Recently, I have also been receiving requests from sole proprietors, artists, creators, and entrepreneurs who say,I have so many thoughts I want to convey and so much I've done, but I can't verbalize or write it down myself!!! I can't write the text for my company or service's Web page!!!For these people, I act as a "sounding board," listening intently to their thoughts and desires and summarizing them into text.

I hope you will rely on me as your "right-hand person," "brain," or "consultant for organizing fuzzy thoughts."

2. Owned Media Operation Support / Web Direction

▼ Monthly quote based on consultation content
・Formulating and organizing editorial policies and missions for owned media
・Planning for overall site UI and information dissemination, including SNS and external media
・Content direction (planning, writing, editing, rewriting, and schedule management for articles, newsletters, press releases, SNS, etc.)

Having experience as a Web director in recruitment PR planning and production, organizational PR departments, and magazine editorial departments at publishing houses, I understand the struggles of on-site practitioners all too well...

Therefore, my creed is to provide more concrete support that can be implemented into actual work, rather than just consulting.

Based on careful interviews and research, I will think about future measures together with you after understanding the personality of the media and your company's business.
Also, as a "sounding board" for daily operational worries, anxieties, and questions, I will listen to you regularly and walk alongside you from an objective perspective to help solve problems and challenges.

Additionally, because I have long experience in planning, interviewing, and editing myself, as well as daily use of CMS like WordPress, I can handle everything from content planning and editing to CMS entry, editing existing articles, and SNS posting.

3. Personal Writing Workshop for Those Who Want to Keep Writing and Sharing

Focusing on Twitter, Instagram, and this note, I have used myself as an experimental subject to steadily continue operations and updates, such as creating online profiles and portfolios.

I started my career as a freelance writer with zero signed article achievements, but thanks to everyone, I am still working today, including being in charge of serials for Web media.

I am here to consult with those who want to work under their own name, those who want to continue writing and sharing on specific themes via note or SNS, those who are already writing, and those who want to promote their company, service, or themselves. If you have something you want to convey but don't know how, please reach out.

★ Benefits compared to other writing workshops and writer courses
・I walk alongside you one-on-one. You can learn comfortably without worrying about other students.
・You can choose the duration—spot, 1 month, or 3 months—according to your budget and wishes.
・I provide lectures tailored to your requests based on my wide range of work experience.

During my time at Starbucks, I learned the basics of being a working professional, as well as coaching and facilitation. I have a reputation for being easy to talk to, healing, energizing, encouraging, and helping people become able to write! (lol)

[Estimated Rates]
I am planning to launch a membership program soon, but during this pre-launch period, I am accepting requests at a trial rate. Please feel free to contact me.

・・・・・・・・

I also accept various consultations from corporate clients.
Due to confidentiality obligations, I cannot provide detailed examples, but as a freelancer, I can offer flexible and meticulous support.

*Since my availability is limited, I would appreciate it if you could consult with me well in advance of your schedule.

I have previously responded to requests such as the following:
・Writing workshops for team members (online/in-person)
・Reviewing texts written by company employees for publication in owned media, etc. (adding red-pen corrections/proposing revisions), and online meetings for writing advice
・Brainstorming and planning meetings before writing (one-on-one / small seminar format)
・Proofreading texts related to internal and external information dissemination, press release creation, etc.

I have received the following feedback from those who have taken my sessions.

“The review was objective and tailored to our company's business, which was very helpful.”
“I learned a lot by understanding the perspectives and standards of a professional writer.”
“It was thorough down to the smallest detail, and I gained perspectives I hadn't noticed before.”
“You are easy to talk to and consult with, so I felt at ease speaking with you.”

Track record of articles I have been involved with as a reviewer (partial)

4. Launching and operating paid online communities and crowdfunding

For three years starting in 2021, I served as the operations manager (community manager) for a paid online community related to art, crafts, and business on a contract basis.
I have handled and experienced a wide range of tasks, including general community operations, planning and managing two 90-minute live Zoom sessions per month with the organizer (proposing and coordinating themes, scheduling, creating presentation slides, selecting and coordinating external guests, etc.), writing and distributing newsletters for members, and even the closing of the community.
Leveraging that know-how, I can provide support to those who are thinking about launching or operating a new community.

Additionally, I have experience on both the support side and the organizer side for launching and operating crowdfunding campaigns. I will provide support by mobilizing all my skills, including writing skills and web-centered public relations skills.

5. Personal art courses and facilitation for individuals

Example) From several thousand yen per month
・60 minutes x 2 times per month to talk about a wide range of art-related topics online
Commentary on works and artists, stories about exhibitions and galleries, art history, merchandise, etc.
It is a session where you can chat freely about whatever you are interested in at the time
・Introduction of selected books, recommended books, and exhibition catalogs focused on art and culture genres
・Q&A support via SNS

・As an irregular event, personal guidance meeting at museums or galleries in and around Tokyo, etc.

Leveraging my overly broad interests in the art world, I serve as a personal coach and facilitator for individuals, where they can listen to and talk about everything related to art.
The content is adjusted according to individual requests, and I currently also work with elementary school students.

There are quite a lot of classes where you can learn to paint or study pottery, but honestly, there aren't many places where you can freely talk about and enjoy broader art topics or art history.

If you feel bored because you don't have any acquaintances or friends around you to enjoy talking about art and museums with, please contact me if you are interested.

I am thinking of developing this into a membership or online community in the future, and I am currently offering it as a trial plan. Please feel free to join if you like.

・・・・・・・・

For your reference, let me introduce a little bit about my interests in art and museums.

Japanese and Oriental art, prints (nishiki-e and post-modern prints), animal sculpture, pointillist painting, tempera painting, ancient art, modern architecture, photography, etc. My tastes are truly too omnivorous, but I love a wide variety of art worlds.
Also, influenced by my grandfather who was a carpenter, my grandmother who made everything, my experience practicing tea ceremony, and my experience wearing kimonos because I love them, I am also interested in crafts in general and Japanese culture and customs.

At the same time, until I went back to university to study, I felt that the academic art world—which felt like it was too high a hurdle and strange, and where you couldn't succeed without knowing art history—should become more open, like the Japanese culture where everyone found and cherished beauty as 'beauty of utility' in their daily lives, and where it is considered good for everyone to create and enjoy freely. That is why I write about various things here on note.

I also love the 'place' of museums and art galleries themselves. I want to widely convey the charm of various museums and art galleries across the country and around the world, including their appeal and the charm of collection exhibitions that tend to be hidden by special exhibitions.

My love for radio has grown, so I also do audio streaming.

Extra Edition: Consultations on working adult learning, careers, etc.

In the 2023 fiscal year, I was in my 5th year as a working adult university student. It was a life chased by report deadlines...

BUT!!!
Thanks to everyone's support, I successfully graduated in March 2024.😢

With that said, I am available to consult with those who are struggling or unsure about balancing work and study.

I also have quite a bit of job-hopping experience, including sudden company bankruptcies.
I offer online consultations for those who are lost regarding job hunting, career changes, choosing a job, future career paths, considering becoming a freelancer, or even general life advice.

My SNS DMs are also open, so please feel free to contact me.

■ Shikisaisha Co., Ltd. Yu Seto Pen Drawing Exhibition PROGRESS Publication Commemorative Exhibition (2021.6.3–19)
DM text (Writing)

Is it a vast prairie, a wilderness, a frozen snowy field, or perhaps deep in a dense forest? They appear silently and stand still. Their gaze is so divine that you cannot look away.
The figures of wild animals, born from just a single line, look as if they are about to start moving at any moment. As you stare at them, you catch your breath, under the illusion that you have wandered into the world where they live and encountered them.

Yu Seto is a sculptor. He is not a painter or an illustrator. His sculptures, which capture the life-sized figures of wild animals using terracotta, have a unique charm with an overwhelming presence that makes you feel their breath.
However, his first collection of works focuses on drawings. It may indeed be surprising, but at the base of the sculptures he creates, there are always drawings that he has continued to draw over a vast amount of time. Before he encountered sculpture production at a preparatory school and decided on his own path, he had been planning to go to art college because he had loved drawing since he was a child. In a sense, it might have been an inevitable flow.

Only a handful of people can become independent as artists and continue their creative activities. Even if you graduate from what is called the top art university in the country, it is a severe world where everything is decided by the evaluation of your work.
That is precisely why he has thought and acted very flexibly about how he can continue to be an artist.
From the early stages of his career, which has now reached its seventh year, there was a period when he utilized social media and continued to publish drawings on Twitter every day. He gradually raised his profile through several awards, held repeated solo exhibitions at Shikisaisha since his student days, and attracted even more attention at Art Fair Tokyo in 2019.
In parallel with steadily building his track record, he launched his own crowdfunding campaign to secure a foundation for his activities and solicited support from patrons. He set not only sculptures but also pen drawings and croquis as rewards, creating opportunities to draw a certain number of works regularly even now.
Even in 2020, when the world changed completely, he launched a shared studio in search of a new production environment, and has worked as much as possible on active dissemination on social media, live streaming, and exhibiting his works.

The more I follow his activities, the more I am truly surprised by his progress and his work. There is no doubt that this pen drawing collection and the publication commemorative exhibition will be an opportunity for a new leap forward. The strength and flexibility overlap with the figures of the wild animals. Sculptor Yu Seto continues to move forward.

■ Shufu to Seikatsu Sha Co., Ltd.
"CHANTO WEB" (I was interviewed and featured)

"CHANTO WEB" is a web media outlet born from the monthly magazine "CHANTO," delivering useful information daily for working women and mothers.
In addition to time-saving tips for work and housework, and solutions for parenting concerns, it is packed with information that can be enjoyed "properly" even in a busy daily life, such as celebrity interviews and manga serials.
It also regularly collects opinions from readers nationwide, actively sharing new values and updating old common sense that no longer fits the current era.

They reached out to me after seeing this note, and I accepted an interview. Since I am usually the one conducting interviews, it was a very fresh experience.
