naoyoga Column Vol. 17 - The Difference Between Your Common Sense and Others'
Good evening! I'm Naoko, the yoga person in Okinawa!
Well, I was away from Okinawa for a bit this week, but I've returned safely!!
I'm home, Okinawa!!!!!!!!!! ← A bit dramatic, haha
But honestly, I love Okinawa so much that I feel like shouting it out.
I feel like I'm becoming unable to leave this climate and environment more and more every year.
Though, it's only been three years. Haha
Above all, thank you to everyone whose classes I missed.☺︎
During these past few days, I was in the Tokai area, holding my own classes and taking lessons from teachers I wanted to learn from; it was truly a yoga-filled trip.
Today, I thought I'd talk about something I realized during this trip.
I'll get straight to the point.
<Your common sense and the other person's common sense are not necessarily the same.> That is it.
This was the biggest thing I learned during this trip and these lessons.
Usually, through yoga and Pilates, I strive to deliver things that are good for the body and help you cherish physical changes,
but man, it was an eye-opening experience.
When I was taking classes, I thought,
Wow!! I see!! So this is how I can make things easier for everyone to understand!!
Whoa!! Chaturanga just became so much easier!!
When I was holding my own classes, I thought,
Oh!! So this is how it's being conveyed.
Hmm?? This part isn't really getting across, is it?
I was nodding so much my head almost fell off. Haha
But you know, when I was taking a class, I thought to myself,
No, this way is definitely easier to use!!
So I gathered the courage to speak up!
Then, everyone thought about it together with me.
And then, I was able to convince myself that it happens because the areas we want to approach are different.
This is what I want to convey this time.
In your daily life and while practicing yoga, you might encounter moments where you think,
Hmm? Why is this?
I thought it was definitely like this, but is it different? Why?
When that happens, please try to think for a moment:
My common sense and the other person's common sense are different. Just that.
If so, maybe trying to explain it this way will change things? You might discover a new way of saying it,
and above all, the feeling of 'Why don't you understand me!!! Ugh!!'
might just calm down.☺︎
So, for today's theme,
I talked about the difference between your common sense and others'!
I hope this adds a little something positive to your daily life♡
Well then, have a wonderful week ahead.☺︎
