naoyoga Column Vol. 18 - Input and Output -
Good evening!! I'm Naoko, the yoga person in Okinawa!
Thank you for all your hard work this past week!!
How was your week?
The temperature is gradually dropping in the mornings and evenings, and the seasons are changing. Also, with the full moon, I imagine many of you have had a week where you felt a bit sluggish, or were fighting off sleepiness and fatigue.
I was sleepy this week too!!! Haha
Anyway, if I had any spare time, it was all about sleeping! Those were the kind of days. Haha
Well, I started writing today wondering what I should talk about,
and although it might be a bit of a departure from yoga, I thought many people might need this,
so I'm going with this theme!
To put it bluntly: Are you outputting what you've input?
The other day, I took a course for the first time in a while and did yoga as a student.
At that time, I did a lot of input.
Wow, so that's how this works!
If I explain it this way, it'll be much easier for everyone to understand!
I thought.
And, I've probably already used this learned content in all my classes. Haha
So what? That's how it feels, right? Haha
I'm definitely not trying to brag.
Today, as an example, let's imagine you want to work as a yoga instructor from now on.
I'll try to explain it using that pattern.
There are so many people around me lately who want to become instructors.
And what they all have in common is,
they say, 'My current knowledge and skills aren't enough yet, so I'll do it after a little while longer.'
So, here is a question. ← Suddenly
How much more capable do you need to be for this 'a little while longer'?
When you can name all the bones and muscles?
When you can give instructions without stumbling?
When you can memorize the sequences?
That's right. This will be on the test. Haha
Look, this applies to everything, but I believe that even if you spend your whole life, you will probably never reach the goal.
So, days like 'after a little while' or 'when I have more confidence' will never actually come if you just wait for them...
Here, I want you to think once more:
You learned a lot and got your certification, right? You took the final test feeling super nervous, didn't you?
Try outputting even just one thing you did there to someone else.
When you inhale, the next thing is to exhale. OK!!!!
If you do the right side, do the left side too. OK!!!!!
This connects to what I wrote last time about how your common sense and the other person's common sense are different, but try saying things out loud that you think,
'Everyone knows this, so I don't need to bother saying it out loud...'
If you do that, there will definitely be someone there!
Whoa!! So you exhale after you inhale! (Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, haha)
Like that, there are times when it gets through!!!
I don't know what happened to my energy level. Haha
We are moving forward every day.
There's a phrase about the lingering excitement not fading yet, but how long does that lingering feeling actually last?
Yes, this is the second thing that will be on the test. ← Still doing it, haha
The heat of the moment is highest when you first input something!
Haven't you ever thought, 'I'll do it in a week' or 'I'll do it when things settle down,' and then just never ended up doing it?
That's why I strongly recommend that you output immediately after you input! Haha
It can be yoga, daily life, anything.
Please take a look at the new perspective that lies beyond outputting even a little bit♡
Let's make October a wonderful month too~♡
Naoko
