[For Retirement #03] 40s | 2. Understanding the Current Situation ① Pension | Record of Considering Asset Formation for Retirement | 54
Hello. This is naninu.
I am making a plan to enjoy my retirement.
This time, I will understand the pension, which will likely be the foundation of my life in retirement.
When thinking about life in retirement, the pension is something you cannot avoid. I feel a vague sense of anxiety, but because I don't really understand it, I tend to put it off... However, because it is the money that will form the foundation of my life in retirement, I think I will start by 'understanding' it. This time, I will organize these three things: • Checking the Nenkin Teikibin (Pension Statement), • The future pension amounts for my husband and me, • Cases of early or deferred receipt.
① Check the Nenkin Teikibin
The 'Nenkin Teikibin' arrives every year. Honestly, I haven't really looked at it properly until now... But this time, I took a good look at it again. In the Nenkin Teikibin, you can find out: • Your enrollment period so far, • The pension premiums you have paid, • An estimate of the pension you will receive in the future, and more. For those under 50, it shows the 'pension amount based on achievements to date.' It seems that once you reach 50 or older, the 'estimated amount of old-age pension' is displayed. I felt that it would be reassuring to first register for Nenkin Net so that I can check it at any time.
② What are the future pension amounts for my husband and me?
Based on the Nenkin Teikibin, I looked at the future pension amounts for both my husband and me. My honest impression is, 'It's not as much as I thought...' That is my true feeling. Of course, although it may change depending on future work styles and enrollment status, I felt that it would be quite difficult to live on the pension alone. That is why I need to think about it in combination with: • Savings, • iDeCo and NISA, • How to work after retirement. I thought it was realistic to consider the pension as the foundation of life, rather than something that 'covers everything.'
③ Check cases of early or deferred receipt
In principle, you can receive your pension from age 65, but you can also choose: • Early receipt (from age 60), • Deferred receipt (from age 66 onwards).
• Early receipt
You can receive it earlier, but the amount will be reduced for life. It is reassuring if you need money early, but you need to be careful if you live a long life.
• Deferred receipt
A system where the pension amount increases by delaying the start of receipt. It is attractive if you can work for a long time, but I also want to consider the balance with my health and work style. In my family's case, I felt that it is important to know the options rather than deciding 'which one is the correct answer' right now.
Summary
This time, I started by understanding the current situation regarding the 'pension,' which will be the foundation of my life in retirement. • Checking the Nenkin Teikibin properly, • Accepting the pension amount realistically, • Knowing the options for how to receive it. Just doing this, I feel that my anxiety about retirement has been organized a little.
Conclusion | First, know the foundation called 'pension'
This time, I understood the current situation based on the Nenkin Teikibin regarding the 'pension,' which will be the foundation of my life in retirement. Honestly, the reality that 'it seems difficult to cover retirement with this alone' has come into view, but that is why I am glad I found out early. The pension is not all of the money for retirement, but the foundation that supports life. If I don't know how much of this foundation I have, I won't be able to see what I should build on top of it. Next time, I will organize ② Retirement money. While checking the company's regulations, I plan to gradually visualize the overall picture of retirement funds, including 'when and how much I can receive,' along with the pension.
I hope this will be helpful for those who are also feeling vaguely anxious about money for retirement.
