What I think now, having once thought AI was difficult
Since a few years ago, AI, starting with ChatGPT, has suddenly become a familiar presence.
Just hearing the word "AI" makes it sound cutting-edge and difficult.
But if you think about it a little, microcontrollers in home appliances and internet search engines are also, in a broad sense, part of the AI family.
Now, they have become capable of having conversations with people, writing text, and creating images.
I really feel that the times have changed significantly.
When I first started using AI in earnest, it was a senior member of the community who taught me.
I was inputting questions while mixing in symbols and things that looked like code,
"I knew it, AI is a difficult world..."
I remember thinking that.
However, when I actually tried using it, that wasn't the case at all.
Today's AI can give you sufficient answers just by talking to it as if you were consulting a friend.
Of course, for things like image generation, it's better to be a bit creative to get the work you want, but even so, it was much more accessible than I had first imagined.
Recently, I've been consulting it about new work and getting help with research.
I even have it think of menus by telling it what ingredients are in my refrigerator.
For me, AI is not a "magic that does everything," but rather like a "capable assistant."
That is why there is one thing I want to hold dear.
That is, making the final decision yourself.
Recently, AI has become able to automate even quite advanced tasks.
It is very grateful that things are becoming more convenient.
But, just because it's convenient, I feel it's a bit wrong to leave everything up to AI.
In fact, I sometimes hear stories about unexpected trouble caused by over-relying on AI.
AI is very smart.
However, it is people, not AI, who bear the responsibility.
That is why I think a distance where I have it 'think with me' rather than 'leaving everything to it' is just right for me right now.
From here on out, AI will likely continue to evolve even further.
It will probably never disappear.
That is precisely why I hope to find a way to use it that suits me, rather than being swayed by trends.
While incorporating convenient tools skillfully, I will also think with my own head.
I want to continue interacting with AI while valuing that kind of balance.
Even if tools change with the times, I believe it is always people who choose the future in the end.
Thank you for reading until the end.
How are you using AI?
If you have any recommended ways to use it, please let me know.
