Color Sample Book: The Colors I See
I will be participating in Sanba-san's [Color Sample Book] project.
Because the colors we see are different for everyone,
I will put the colors I see into words and name them,
The colors I see.

Arctic foxes wear pure white fur to hide in the snow. And their tears? I am sure they are this color.

The path a slug takes sparkles, a faint, subtle reddish-pink signpost.

A kingfisher's color is glossy and more vibrant, but a slightly duller shade feels melancholic.

Fox color is a golden hue that one can visualize. But this slightly calmer, whitish version feels noble.

Perhaps the texture got in the way a little here. The bumpy feel of the fawn pattern. The color is that of a newborn deer. A hue that is only just barely visible.

The raw jade stone has a milky white base with a faint hint of bluish-green. But to me, it doesn't look like a stone at all; it looks like 'scales'.

The color evoked by the poets at a waka poetry banquet.

This is a personal story, but to me, my maternal grandmother's color is a deep wisteria. If I were to name it, though, I would have wanted it to be the color of a 70th birthday celebration.

The Phantom of the Opera. I think the red he wore was a bit deeper, but I like to believe that the flowers blooming around him were this color.

I have an image of the manatee itself being this color mixed with gray. The dream color of a manatee that couldn't quite become a mermaid must surely be this color.

The cicada itself might actually be a slightly more yellowish green. But to me, the cicada is a messenger that brings autumn, and it has a slightly lonely hue.

Not the jellyfish trying to look beautiful, but the color of a jellyfish simply drifting through the sea with a blank mind. A transparency close to milky white.

I am sorry it is very hard to see. A whale that has reached the very bottom of the seabed must surely be this color.

In a cat's eyes, there is probably no such thing as total darkness. It is the moonlight shining into pupils opened wide to take in as much light as possible. I think a walking path must be a bright darkness like this.

This overlaps with fire opal, but it is a red that feels hot with vivid coloring. A swaying color with a play-of-color effect.

This is also a personal color. My mother was like the sun to our family, but it is not just yellow, the color of energy; it is mixed with a warm heart and the color of love. My image of people born in August comes from my mother.

I hesitated to use the fruit name 'Buddha's hand,' as it would emphasize texture over color. It is a fruit that is not yet ripe, but has begun to feel a little softness in its hardness.

I am sorry I could not bring out the color properly. It is a hue where the silver of a fish and the blue of water have melted together. It is a color that owes its luster and jewel-like shine to the silver.

I think you can tell better from the photo below. It is my cat. Haha. It is not green or yellow, but a color that possesses the transparency of a marble—it is truly the color of grape pulp. However, to create the smooth luster of a marble, I added a 'nectar' gloss, which has the sticky sheen characteristic of sweetness.

During a long car ride, I made this color palette using photos from this trip :).
Looking at it like this, I can really tell what colors I like. Hehe.
Everyone, please try it out too. It makes looking at the world around you fun :)
Until 11:59 PM on 11/24!!
Sanba-san, thank you for such a wonderful project!!
Bonus :) For Sanba-san
The things I was always wondering about were in a chart! I wanted to show you too, Sanba-san.
