Watching my first stage play!!
I've thought about going to see a stage play many times before, but I could never quite bring myself to do it. However, I took the plunge and bought a ticket for the Virche stage play, and it was the right decision!!
I found out about this play about three weeks before the opening day when I was playing the game and searched for Virche. It caught my interest, so I tapped on it. When I looked at the cast, I saw that Hiroki Nakada, who plays my favorite character Adolf, was in it. I hesitated a little about whether to get a ticket or not, but I did. From then on, I was so excited every day that I couldn't sleep, and it became my reason for living.
The day before, I was as excited and nervous as a kid before a field trip, and I couldn't sleep, waking up several times in the middle of the night. I was just too excited.
Everything below this point contains spoilers for the play. If you go further down, there are spoilers for in-game stills and dialogue. Please proceed at your own risk.
The previous work featured Scien, and this one features Yves. In the game, Scien doesn't have a route restriction, but conversely, Yves's route is heavily restricted, so I was surprised that they went with the Yves route, which gets to the core of the story! If it were Scien, the next one would be Lucas or Mathis, but well, that's fine, haha.
Adolf, played by Hiroki Nakada, was just so much like Adolf. 2.5D is truly amazing; he was so much like Adolf that I was under the illusion that he had jumped right out of the screen.
The scene where they gather at Adolf's house in the common route for a strategy meeting and a meal was interesting. In that scene, Yves gets drunk and starts pestering everyone. I don't know if it was in the script or an ad-lib, but after Yves caught Ceres's tears with a handkerchief (a silver bowl), he kept saying "Ceres's tears, Ceres's tears" to Adolf over and over, which was funny. The cast members were laughing too, though it might have been part of the acting, but it was good. It was probably the most heartwarming scene (?).
The part where everyone gets into Mathis's car to chase the executioner was a bit surreal and funny.
Scien, played by Ryusei Kitade, had such thick wrists and arms, which was萌え (moe). It's not good that the Scien costume design makes it look like his fly is open, right? How is that costume even made? Seriously.
The scene where they first encounter Scien.
When Scien told Mathis to stop calling him with the honorific "-sama," and when asked what he should call him instead, he said "Scien-kun," he received such a grand retort from Adolf and the others that my stomach hurt from laughing. He ended up being called "Scien-san," but they teased him, saying that "-kun" was going too far all at once.
Since I had played the game, I kept thinking, "Ah! I know the lines in this scene!!" It felt like, "Oh, I studied this in Shinken Zemi!" (?). Thanks to having played the game, it went into my brain smoothly. As expected, studying the original work is important.
In the Yves route, Adolf dies, and the shock was immense. The part where Adolf entrusts Ceres to Yves was truly moving. "Take care of my pessimistic stepsister." "I was looking forward to the time when she would call me brother." "Since you've despaired, give her hope, Yves." I was so happy because these are my favorite lines from the game.
In the scene where Scien and Yves fight, there is a line I love!!
"From the moment you were born! You have belonged to me, Yves Neige, your protector."
My tear ducts collapsed here, and I was like, "Yves..."
After that, an explosion occurs, Ceres heads toward the Lycoris flower field, and Yves chases after her.
Even though he's in a situation where he could die at any moment, the sight of him chasing after her because he cares for Ceres is truly painful yet endearing...
At that time, Ceres is trying to stop the people who are trying to burn the Lycoris, even while being pelted with stones by others.
But in the end, the Lycoris burn, and the people around them lose their lives.
On the way to Ceres, someone who is barely breathing tries to stop Yves, but Yves doesn't save that person.
I deeply felt that he had changed from "philanthropy" to "obsession."
I'm sure the old Yves would have saved them...
And then, right in front of Ceres, Yves is engulfed in flames and dies.
The scene where Yves couldn't tell Ceres "Die with me" was also truly heartbreaking. As expected, you want to be with the person you love until the very end, and it made me feel pained too.
I wanted Yves and Ceres to be happy in any form.
After the performance, there was a send-off event. Participating cast: Yuya Arai as Lucas Proust, Ryunosuke Nagashima as Mathis Claude, Ryusei Kitade as Scien Brofiwes, Ryota Nakada as Hugo, Koutetsu Hayashi as Ankou, and Hiroki Nakada as Adolf (special appearance).
The order is a bit fuzzy, but I think it was Adolf, Ankou, Scien, Hugo, and finally Lucas from the right (though Scien and Hugo might have been reversed).
A god-tier event where the cast lines up in a straight line on stage, walks along the bottom of the stage, waves, and you get to go home while gazing at handsome men.
The way the cast members waved was just great. Adolf stood with his arms crossed in front of his chest and didn't wave, saying "See you later." Ankou said "Good boy, bad boy." Scien, Mathis, Lucas, and Hugo each waved while expressing their gratitude. For some reason, Scien waving with a huge grin was a little scary.
Adolf was so much like Adolf that I mistook him for the real thing. 2.5D is amazing. Thank you, Hiroki Nakada.
I also participated in the merchandise sale after the show. I didn't intend to buy anything extra, but my love overflowed, so I added 5 personal bromides of Adolf (Hiroki Nakada) and bought 2 random cast acrylic stands. The results of the acrylic stands were Adolf and Salome. I had bought acrylic stands at the advance sale too, but I couldn't pull him myself then and had them kindly traded to me by someone else. I was happy to pull him myself at the post-show sale, but at the same time, I felt sorry for the person who traded with me.
It was my first 2.5D stage play, and everything was so amazing that I was drawn in.
It was an experience that made me want to see it again and see other stage plays as well.
I feel truly happy to have encountered such a wonderful work.
I'm really glad that my first 2.5D experience was the "Virche" stage play.
I thought it was great that Hiroki Nakada, even though it was a special appearance, was the one playing my favorite character, Adolf.
