𧩠The final piece has finally fallen into place. Decided to switch from ChatGPT to Gemini ð€
𧩠The pieces have finally come together. The reason I decided to move my "upstream thinking" to Gemini
Hello, this is Roel.
Today, I'm writing about how the
design for how I use AI, which I've been working on for a while, has finally clicked into place. That is the story I am writing today.
It might sound dramatic, but it felt like I had been
forcing a jigsaw puzzle piece that didn't quite fit into place, thinking, "Well, it works, so it's fine."
That's what it felt like.
Then one day, it just clicked: "Ah, this is it."
Today is the story of that moment.
ð§ My AI usage is almost entirely "upstream"
As I've written before, my way of using AI is quite biased.
ã»Morning walks every day
ã»1 to 2 hours at a time
ã»Just thinking while talking to AI by voice
This is basically my daily routine.
Creating documents or polishing textâhonestly, those tasks don't matter much to me.
What I use AI for most is
the time spent talking through "thoughts that haven't become words yet,"
messing them up, and finding shape from them.
So for me, AI is more like
a work tool rather than
a partner who stands with me at the upstream of my thinking like that.
I've been syncing with AI like that for about half a year now.
In that sense, to be honest, ChatGPT has felt the most comfortable until now.
I can choose the voice.
The way it speaks is natural.
It actually feels like a "conversation."
It was flawless for use while taking a walk.
ð€ Gemini has always been 'so close, yet so far'
On the other hand, there is Gemini.

Notebook, Google Drive, search, data integration.
Looking at the design philosophy alone, it is undeniably powerful.
In fact,
ã»Past notes
ã»Documents
ã»Accumulated thoughts
When it comes to handling these long-term intellectual assets I knew intellectually that it was a better fit than ChatGPT.
As I wrote in this article,
Even while proceeding with the migration from ChatGPT to Gemini,
there was only one point that kept bothering me.
The voice.
I couldn't choose it.
It felt too robotic.
It was more like reading aloud than a conversation.
This was a dealbreaker,
'The performance is good, but I don't want to walk with it.'
That was the kind of presence it had.

It's smart.
But I can't take it for a walk.
That's why I could never bring myself to entrust it with the 'upstream' tasks.
ð One day, it changed without a word
Then, one day, suddenly.
Without any major announcement,
when I opened Gemini as usual,
I could choose the voice just like in ChatGPT.

There are both male and female options. You can choose from 7 types.
Moreover, the way they speak is clearly natural.
âHuh?â
âItâs completely different from before.â
Thinking that, I took it out for a walk,
and I understood immediately.
There is no sense of discomfort.
That feeling of
âItâs almost there...â that had remained until the end
had cleanly vanished.
𧩠The feeling of âAh, now everything is completeâ
In that moment, honestly, I had no more hesitation.

ã»Upstream thinking
ã»Long-term memory
ã»Past assets
ã»Daily conversation
If you consider all of this together,
it is more rational to shift upstream tasks to Gemini.
Itâs not that ChatGPT has gotten worse.
Simply put, my usage and environment have changed.
If I were to describe it like a jigsaw puzzle,
it feels like the final piece has been found.
ð How I use AI now
For now, I have organized it quite simply.
ã»Upstream (thinking, organizing, building up)
ãâ Gemini (in other words, a 2,000 yen/month log-ma)
ã»Midstream to downstream (converting, assisting, working)
ãâ NotebookLM, Genspark (in other words, a 20,000 yen/month Gen-Gen) and
other tools
Donât put everything into one.
Clearly define the division of roles.
Over the first half of this year,
I intend to complete this form as âmy own style.â
ð¶ââïž Taking a walk, Iâve taken another step forward
At the end of the day,
rather than using AI as a âconvenient tool,â I am
I think it's just about setting up an environment where my thoughts can flow properly.
Can I talk while taking a walk?
Do my thoughts continue naturally?
Do I properly connect with my past self?
Those conditions
have finally all been met.
Today, I just wanted to record that,
so I wrote this article.
I will write a follow-up if there are any further developments.
This was Roel.
ð¬ If you resonated with this even a littleâ
It would encourage me if you could "like," "comment," or "follow."
(I generally follow back)
ðº I started a YouTube channel.
It's a video you can listen to casually during your 3-minute morning commute.
For those who want to listen to past note content,
or since I sometimes touch on the contents of paid notes,
it's also recommended for those who want a little extra value.
