A New Wall

The day after he was moved to the convalescent ward, I went to visit him.
He had been moved to a private room.
"A private room?! That's nice. That's great for you."
I thought, but
the reason it was a private room was because he couldn't go to the bathroom by himself.
He was told it was a private room because he wears diapers, and the smell would spread to others.
There's a window, so he can see outside, that's great!
I thought, but
the window is at the head of the bed, so my husband, who cannot turn around, cannot see outside.
Apparently, if he tries to move to change his position on the bed, the nurses get angry at him.
And because he's in a private room, even though there used to be people coming and going and he could hear lots of voices, it's just quiet, he has nothing to do, and he spends every day just staring at the wall.
He also can't eat the food the way he wants to.
He said he has almost no memory of the first month, so I think that now that his consciousness has become clearer, he must be going through a lot of mental hardship.

And then, the visiting hours.
Until now, I was told I could stay as long as I wanted between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM,
but now I have to finish in 20 minutes.
Maybe there are more people coming and going than before because the ward has changed.

Although his brain condition has recovered,
he is hitting various new walls,
and I am truly worried about his mental state.

He asked me to bring a clock for my next visit.
What time is it now, what day of the week is it, and what is the date.
I think it must be very painful for him to spend time alone in an inorganic room, so
I'm going to put up a calendar, photos of the children, and lots of things on the wall for him.
I'm thinking about various things, like if I put up a mirror, would he be able to see the view from the window?

I just hope he can have the gastrostomy surgery soon so we can take off the nasal tube and the mittens.
