The Eccentric Ceremony

“Where did you hear that story?”
The senior asked back, lowering their voice.
“It’s a rumor. That our university has something called the Eccentric Ceremony.”

When it comes to eccentrics, there is no place in Japan like the university I enrolled in. However, it wasn’t an eccentric ceremony immediately upon entrance. Since graduation was approaching, I decided to ask a senior about it.

“Being an eccentric is like winning a Nobel Prize. You are nominated without your consent, and only the selected members can attend the Eccentric Ceremony.”
“Does that mean I’m out of luck?”
“No, there is one way. You have to start over.”
“Start over? How do I do that?”
“First, you visit Kamigamo Shrine, and then immediately head to Shimogamo Shrine. If you do that, you can redo your student life starting from your freshman year.”
“Is that what you call a loop?”
“Even if it is a loop, you can only do it twice. Actually, I’ve already done it once, but I’m thinking of getting out now. It’s difficult to be recognized as an eccentric in a group of eccentrics.”

Now, I am troubled. Should I enter the loop, or should I graduate as is and live my life as a non-eccentric?
