Wooden Fish Impressions

Um, it might not be my place to say this, but shouldn't you all be practicing? Or, perhaps, preparing?

In my home, people usually read the Heart Sutra and tap me with a mallet. When the rhythm of that Heart Sutra is off, I can't resonate with a pleasant sound.

My impression of this year's Obon is that it really is better if the Heart Sutra is chanted rhythmically.
Honestly, it was poor. It felt like, 'Oh right, I should probably tap the wooden fish while reading the Heart Sutra.'

I'm not asking for it to be memorized. By preparation, I mean at least distributing copies with clear furigana so that everyone can chant in unison to some extent.

Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate, bodhi svaha. Yes, tap-tap, tap-tap-tap-tap.

At the very least, that is how I felt this Obon, hoping you might do it this way by the end.
