Episode 1: "Nice to meet you."
Hello everyone, nice to meet you. We are Nahari Town, Kochi Prefecture.
We have launched the official Nahari Town note to help more people learn about the charm of our town. We are striving to convey information as clearly as possible, but as we are still new to this, we would appreciate your kind support.
What is Nahari Town?
Nahari Town is a small town with a population of about 2,800, located in the eastern part of Kochi Prefecture, about 60 km east of Kochi City. It once flourished as a key transportation hub, and historical buildings still remain throughout the town today.

Surrounded by rich nature, Nahari Town is home to a sea popular with anglers, where about 70 species of coral and colorful tropical fish live; mountains that serve as the starting point for the Noneyama Kaido, which is rich in nature including numerous historical sites and natural forests; and rivers where the sweetfish (ayu) that won the Grand Prix at the "Clear Stream Tour Ayu Tasting Contest," where sweetfish from all over Japan are compared, live. The town also has a thriving facility-based horticulture industry, such as eggplants and green peppers, and is working on fostering the next generation of local agricultural leaders.

In the coastal set-net and pole-and-line fisheries, we benefit from the Kuroshio Current, landing a wide variety of fish such as bonito, splendid alfonsino, and red-colored fish.

In the mountainous areas, beef cattle, pigs, and chickens are raised, and we are also focusing on developing original brands.

Why we started note
For many years, population decline, the declining birthrate, and the exodus of local youth to urban areas have been social issues. In our town as well, the population has decreased from 4,921 in 1995 to 3,542 in 2010, and to 2,812 as of the end of April 2025. To put a stop to this situation, Nahari Town is working on various measures to combat population decline. One of the measures we are taking is participating in migration consultation fairs hosted by Kochi Prefecture and the Kochi Prefecture UI Turn Support Center. Various projects such as individual consultation meetings and seminars are held by municipalities and companies within Kochi Prefecture to promote migration and settlement to Kochi and to share the charm of Kochi Prefecture.

At migration fairs, visitors interested in moving consult with the booths of municipalities they are curious about or walk around the venue to gather information. Compared to other municipalities, we have fewer people consulting with our town, and when they do, it always starts with the question, "Where is Nahari Town?" Every time that happens, I feel like we need a strong selling point, like "Speaking of [something], it's Nahari Town!" By the way, every municipality in Kochi Prefecture puts effort into migration work, and each has solid strengths that they promote well. From this, we realized that ourability to disseminate information is a weakness.
To break away from this current situation, we made a plan within our department.
Production of a migration promotion video to let many people know about Nahari Town
Refreshing information on existing websites, etc., anda new SNS strategy
Changing the decoration of the consultation booth at migration fairs
Participation of current local vitalization cooperators in migration fairs
There are many other details, but I think these are the four main points. We started note this time as one of the new SNS strategies in point 2.
Goals for using note
"To have people get to know Nahari Town."We want readers to become interested in Nahari Town. We want them to like it. We would like to start there first.
Moving forward, I plan to post articles on this note covering a variety of genres, including the daily life, people, living, tourism information, and events of Nahari Town! I hope to post articles that are not as formal as the town's public relations or website, but are deep in content, and while broad, will resonate with those they are meant for.
This note initiative is a new challenge we haven't taken on before, so honestly, I have no idea how effective it will be. However, I will continue to update it so that I can reach as many people as possible, so I appreciate your support.
Thank you for reading until the end.
I would be happy if you could "like" and "follow".
