The Travels of the Nagu-Nagu Gang

In the spring of 2021, my son became independent and started his career.
The shape of our family is changing, and so are our family travels.

About the "Travel Diary"...

Recently, I have been calling us the Nagu-Nagu Tourists, formerly known as the Nagu-Nagu Gang, but this is a record of our family trips. Travel is not something you do alone; this is a record of our family's journeys.

◇◇

Let me reintroduce the "Nagu-Nagu Gang"! My family consists of three people: my wife, my son, and myself. We are a dual-income household. (Since the spring of 2021, we are all working!)
We have changed the way we travel as our child has grown, but the "Travel Diary" I posted on note is in a jumbled chronological order, so I have organized our family travels while incorporating my thoughts from those times.

◇◇

Phase 1: From birth to elementary school

He was in daycare from the time he was zero years old. Perhaps out of guilt for both of us working, I decided that we would spend as much time together as possible on our days off.
I also wanted my child to have various experiences. From Hokkaido to Okinawa, Turkey, Cambodia, and more, we always went on a "trip" whenever we had a long holiday.

Phase 2: Junior high and high school years

My son was all about track and field!!
When he was in the sixth grade of elementary school, we decided to move so he could pursue track and field. It was to attend a school known for its strong track team. Starting from junior high, he had to start from scratch with friends as well.
Naturally, he gave his all to club activities, and our family trips decreased drastically during these six years! Even so, we would adjust our work schedules to match his few days off. I learned a lot from my son by watching him practice so single-mindedly.

Phase 3: - University Years -

Our son started living away from home, our first experience of letting go.
Living as a couple again for the first time in about 20 years. Moving from a child-centered life back to our own pace, our passion for travel was revived!! (lol)

Our son continued to be stoic about track and field, but we, the hedonists who had been set free...

For example, looking at my 2016 notes,
April: Mount Yoshino, May: Izumo, July: Sri Lanka, August: Wajima, November: Shodoshima... It's a sickness... (lol)

◇◇

Phase 4: - Graduate School Years -

Our son started commuting from home again. I had thought we would never travel as a family again, so it was deeply moving.
And to think we could drink alcohol together!!

◇◇

And then, as mentioned at the beginning,
from the spring of 2021, a new page begins.
The journey of life will continue to change its form,

It has always been a journey of watching his back as he walked ahead...

To a new beginning... Cheers!

In the end, it's drinks after all!
