The other day, as a food item (seasoning?) I bought while traveling and got hooked on,
instead of wasabi, I introducedthe chili pepper for sashimi, 'Tiger's Tail'.

This time, it's Part II of seasonings I bought while traveling and got hooked on.

The first time I learned about it was through Yukiko Ikoma.

The red "Worcestershire sauce," the green "Chuno sauce," and the concentrated "Power of the Barrel Bottom," etc.—now, they are a crack team of seven that rivals the Sentai series.

My favorite is red, just like the leader of the Sentai series, the Gorenger!

This Torii sauce is uniquely aged in "wooden barrels."
And actually... these wooden barrels are an endangered species. If we don't do something, we won't be able to taste this sauce anymore.

When I visited Shodoshima, I learned about the project to revive those wooden barrels. Little by little, the number of successors (or rather, brewers who say, 'Let's make them ourselves') is increasing, and there is a glimmer of hope. It's a project I want to support.

What about the taste, you ask?
Today, I will introduce my absolute favorite, the red one.

The number one dish I want to pair it with is!

Fried Horse Mackerel

Pour this thin, brownish liquid over crispy, piping hot fried horse mackerel. It has a saltiness and umami that might make you think it's soy sauce, and it's perfect for fried fish!

Curry Rice

I present this to all the men and women in their 50s. And I also present this to the young people who might ask, "Sauce on curry rice!?" That's right. When you think of curry, you think of sauce, right?

Well, I didn't think so either.
(Though I did put it on when I was in elementary school, haha)

However! When I tried putting this sauce on curry,

It was incredibly delicious.

The spices I didn't notice when eating the fried horse mackerel met the spices in the curry, and their talents blossomed. It was truly a hundred flowers blooming, a treasure box of spices!
This was the reason for putting sauce on curry! Bam!

It gives the curry an even greater depth of flavor.

Actually, the croquette in the first photo is a curry croquette.
It's delicious.

It's sold at souvenir corners in Hamamatsu Station and at highway service areas, but it's actually cheaper at supermarkets. If you have time, please go to a supermarket.

And it doesn't end here. Hehe.

The supermarket 'Sanyone' is based mainly in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, right next to Hamamatsu City.

It is my favorite supermarket. Their private brand (PB) products are a trusted brand that minimizes the use of additives.

And this PB sauce was made by Torii Sauce. I couldn't help but get it!

It seems they used to be a sauce manufacturer exclusively for commercial use. In recent years, they shifted their policy to home use and are now a big hit. At the drugstore Kyorindo in Shizuoka, you can get 'Torii Sauce Kaki no Tane' (persimmon seed crackers), and there are also Torii Sauce yakisoba, sauce crackers, and more. How about a souvenir like this?
