Tonight, to surrender to the flow of life—a quiet prescription for those afraid of 'just going with the flow'
The feeling of drifting in the middle of the night, as if you've lost your rudder
There are moments late at night when your hand suddenly stops holding your smartphone.
Only the light from the screen quietly illuminates the room, and in that silence, a question rises from deep within your chest.
"What did I really want to do?"
Meeting the expectations of those around you, following the rules of society, you realize you are walking on a track laid down by someone else.
Employment, marriage, stability, the 'right' path.
Surrounded by countless voices saying how things 'should be,' the feeling that you are choosing your own life gradually fades away.
It feels as if, even though it is your own life, you are not in the driver's seat.
Could it be that you are just being swept along, like a ship that has lost its rudder?
Such anxiety quietly attacks you when night falls.
But, what if—
What if that feeling of 'being swept along' is actually a sign that your life is moving in the right direction?
'Going with the flow' is not weakness, but flexibility
We have always been told,
"Stand on your own two feet."
"Live proactively."
"Carve out your own life with your own strength."
That is what we have been taught.
Certainly, that is one kind of truth.
However, because those words are so strong,
'You must not be lost.'
'You must not stand still.'
'It is bad to let yourself be swept away.'
Many people have likely held onto such assumptions.
But is that really the case?
Being swept away also means that you are sensitively picking up on changes in your surroundings and are able to adapt flexibly to the situation.
That is something a dull person cannot do.
Rather, it is a very high level of sensitivity.
The ability to read the wind.
The ability to sense the atmosphere.
The ability to feel the timing.
That is a wonderful talent.
So first, please tell yourself this.
'It is okay if my will is not clear right now.'
'I am properly within this flow.'
From here, everything begins to change.
Looking at life from a 'drone perspective'
When we are anxious, we are always looking at life from too close a range.
The current failure
The current stagnation
Your current anxiety
It is like being on a small boat tossed by rough waves, desperately shouting, 'I have to do something about these waves.'
But, please try changing your perspective just once.
Raise the camera high into the sky, as if looking down on your entire life with a drone.
Then, there are things that will come into view.
Where is that small boat heading?
Where does that river lead?
Even if it looks like you are just being swept away now, that current may eventually lead to a vast ocean.
A lost job
A finished romance
People who have drifted away
Events you thought were the 'worst' at the time can be understood as 'necessary' a few years later.
Life does not always explain itself in the moment.
However, it is only when you look back that you realize, 'That was the shortest route.'
Entrusting the night to a calm sea named 'trust'
Your breathing continues even without you being conscious of it.
Your heart, too, continues to beat without stopping, even while you sleep.
We are kept alive within a larger system than we realize.
Life is the same.
In truth, you are equipped with something like an 'automatic guidance system' within you.
That is your own axis.
Tonight, try returning the reins to that system.
Use the energy you were spending on bracing yourself against the current to simply savor this very moment.
The feel of the sheets
The quiet darkness
The night air
And, you only need to set this intention.
'Please carry me to the place where I can shine the brightest.'
That is all it takes.
In that moment, the anxiety of 'being swept away'
transforms into
a deep sense of peace, knowing you are 'being carried.'
The best views lie ahead in the flow
'I have to do something about this myself.'
That thought, while seemingly positive, is actually born from a very deep fear.
If I don't control it, I feel anxious.
If I don't hold on tight, I feel afraid.
But life truly begins to move when you gently let go of that steering wheel.
It is not about resisting the current, but about trusting yourself within it.
It is not about trying to change the direction of the river, but about enjoying the coldness of the water and the changing scenery.
Therein lies true freedom.
The master of one's life is not the person who controls everything.
It is the person who can trust the flow.
Please do not blame yourself for being carried along.
You are not standing still right now.
You are moving forward, just as you should be.
It is just that your pace is a little quieter than what the world expects.
Tonight, try simply surrendering yourself to the vast ocean of deep sleep.
When you wake up tomorrow morning,
you will surely be a little closer to the 'place you truly wanted to go' than you were yesterday.
Good night.
To you, drifting in peace, protected by the great flow of life.
