“I was looking for ‘somewhere else,’ but I found a view that only exists here.”
There are days when I want to go far away.
To throw everything away,
and escape to a place completely different from where I am now.
An unknown land, unknown people,
in a space where no one knows me,
I want to breathe again from zero.
Thinking, ‘Somewhere other than here,'
‘there must be a place where I can be myself.’
But the sky I looked up at when I stopped, tired from walking,
was unexpectedly beautiful.
The cafe I entered while thinking, ‘Why now of all times...’
turned out to be a place where I could relax.
I wanted to see someone and tried to reach out,
and the path I ended up walking,
gave me a moment where I could like myself just a little bit more.
I had only been looking for ‘somewhere else,’ but,
I had just been overlooking it.
That ‘here,’ too, had its own kindness all along.
Perhaps travel isn't about going far away, but about ‘rediscovering.’
The ‘first time’ found within a familiar landscape.
The ‘overlooked light’ on the road I’ve traveled so many times.
The ‘true feelings of mine’ hidden in an unchanging daily life.
A journey to gather those up,
is something I can now believe was necessary for my life.
☀️ Daytime Travel Prescription
Even if you don’t go far, changing your perspective makes it a ‘new view.’
Sometimes, forgotten emotions are sleeping in familiar places.
Travel through today at ‘your own pace,’ without comparing yourself to others.
A walk without a destination gives your heart some breathing room.
I want to be someone who can truly notice the ‘breeze that can only be felt here.’
“Even if I stay here, the scenery truly changes.”
There were days I wanted to run away.
There were days I wished to change.
But today, just by shifting my perspective ever so slightly,
there was a moment where I thought, ‘being here was the right choice.’
Those small moments are surely what quietly move life forward.
