I stayed at the Renaissance Resort Okinawa [Day 1]
This autumn, I went on a 4-day, 3-night trip to Okinawa. The hotel I stayed at was the Renaissance Resort Okinawa, which is extremely popular with families!
It was a truly wonderful hotel. Both adults and children were very satisfied! If I have the chance again, I would definitely want to stay there.
Unfortunately, it rained every day except for the last day, but I was able to see the happy faces of my children and feel how much they have grown, so I spent a very happy time.
Day 1
16:00 Check-in
I chose a Deluxe Twin (Beach View) room on a high floor facing the sea. I didn't know when I would be able to come to Okinawa again, so I splurged!

During the period I stayed, if you stay for 3 or more nights in a Deluxe Twin room, you become eligible for Club Savvy Premium.
What is Club Savvy? It is hospitality from Renaissance to help you enjoy your resort stay more comfortably. From April 2023, we have established a new status, and for stays of 2 nights or more, we offer various hospitality services such as activities and meals.
Quoted from the Club Savvy guide
My eldest son seemed to like the hotel name and room number, and during our stay, he kept saying, '△△△ is in room 9〇〇 at the R Hotel!'
16:30 Activity Reservation
After checking in, you can make reservations for activities on a first-come, first-served basis at the activity counter (8:30–17:00).
I checked what kind of activities were available on the website in advance. Something that my 5-year-old and 1-year-old children could enjoy together was the 'Coral Adventure Cruise'. You can see the coral sea where fish swim from the underwater observation room of the cruise ship. It was free of charge as a Club Savvy benefit!
The precipitation on the third day was 1–2 mm/h. Since we were planning to go to the Churaumi Aquarium in the afternoon, I booked the 10:30 start time.
17:00 Dinner Reservation
I was thinking of going to a restaurant around the hotel, but since we were tired from the long journey, we decided to book a restaurant at the hotel.
Since it was our first meal in Okinawa, we decided to eat Okinawan food! So we booked 'Umakaji'.
17:30 Dinner at Umakaji
There were set courses, but I thought the children wouldn't be able to sit through them, so we decided to order à la carte. We ordered several Okinawan dishes, such as sea grapes, rafute (braised pork belly), and jimami tofu.
What I liked was the mimiga (pig ear) with spicy miso dressing. I've always liked mimiga, and before I knew it, I had finished the whole plate...
My eldest son seemed to like the purple sweet potato tempura. My second son eats everything without being picky, but he seemed to think the mozuku seaweed in vinegar was the best.
18:30 Market Plaza
We decided to go to the shop inside the hotel that sells Okinawan souvenirs and other items. We visited it many times during our stay.
My eldest son is obsessed with Anpanman. He found some Anpanman chocolate-covered biscuits and begged, 'I want to buy this.'
My second son and I were also looking around for something we wanted. I found his favorite Qoo jelly! I was holding him, but he leaned forward so much he almost fell out of my arms.
My second son is very charming and cute, but he has a very strong will. It's tough because if things don't go his way, he tries to throw himself backward, even if it's on asphalt or anywhere else.
I bought some shikuwasa juice, and my husband bought an Orion beer.
19:30 Yamada Onsen
Club Savvy Premium and Regular guests can use the Yamada Onsen, which has a natural hot spring source on the hotel grounds.
One of the reasons we chose the Renaissance Resort Okinawa was this Yamada Onsen! We are a family that loves hot springs and we go to one almost every week. lol
Usually, my husband and eldest son go to the hot spring together, and I go with my second son. However, my eldest son refused to bathe with my husband, saying, '△△△ has become Mommy's!' lol During our stay, no matter how many times my husband invited him, he refused, saying, 'It's for Mommy, so I won't go with Daddy.'
I wonder if he thinks he's giving Mommy up to his younger brother, or that Mommy is being taken away. This incident made me decide that I would let my eldest son be spoiled as much as he wants on this trip!
There was a semi-open-air bath with a view of the sea. I enjoyed the hot water while being blown by a strong wind, thinking that the view must be wonderful when it's sunny.
Finally
The thing I was most worried about was the airplane. My eldest son found his seat by himself and fastened his seatbelt. I was nervous, wondering what I would do if he panicked, but he was able to stay in his seat until the end by eating snacks and doing sticker puzzles.
On the way, his ears seemed to hurt, and he started holding them. When I suggested, 'Let's try drinking some water!' or 'Let's hold your nose and blow!', he listened well and followed my advice.
As soon as the plane started to take off, my second son fell into a dream... He performed a miracle by sleeping until we arrived in Okinawa. Thank you!
It ended up being a longer post than I thought, so it looks like I'll be posting it in several parts. I hope this will be helpful for those who are planning to stay at the Renaissance Resort Okinawa or are considering a trip to Okinawa.
