[A Full-time Housewife's Weekly Diary] Choosing while feeling lost, and enjoying the process.
Hello, Natsume here.
Every Sunday, I take a relaxed look back at the past week.
Struggling to find a place to stay, worrying about whether to go volunteer at the library, and feeling overwhelmed by election candidates.
There are actually quite a lot of moments in everyday life where we have to "choose."
This week's diary is about enjoying the process of being lost.
7/6 (Sun): The freedom to know, learn, and express
I'm watching the anime "Chi.: On the Movements of the Earth."
It's a story about people who pursued the heliocentric theory, which was considered heresy at the time.
In 15th-century Europe, it seems that women were discouraged from conducting research or expressing their own opinions.
What a difficult world to live in.
I think about how happy I am to live in an era where I can know things, learn, and freely express my own thoughts.
7/7 (Mon): Tanabata wishes
May my whole family be healthy.
May we spend our days with smiles.
May the world be at peace.
7/8 (Tue): Finding a place to stay is difficult
I'm looking for a place to stay for our summer vacation trip.
My husband, myself, and my third-grade son each have non-negotiable preferences.
There are surprisingly many places that fit those conditions, but narrowing them down from there is difficult.
If it were a case of "This is the only place! It's the last one!" then I could decide decisively.
I realized it's better not to look at reviews.
No matter how beautiful the room or how delicious the food, there will always be someone who leaves a low rating in the reviews.
Reading those makes me lose the desire to go.
Once I decide, "I'm staying here!" I will not look at any more reviews.
7/9 (Wed): Library volunteer work
It was the day for elementary school library volunteering.
Although I signed up, participation is voluntary, so I was debating what to do.
It's a dangerously hot day, and just going to school makes me drenched in sweat.
But the day before, I got a message from the school saying, "We've gathered X number of volunteers! Thank you!"
If I don't show up now, I'll feel guilty...
It's not like I'm feeling sick...
I just don't want to get hot and sweaty...
After agonizing over it, I decided to go.
When I got there, I found a mom friend I knew.
I felt a bit relieved.
Today's work was mainly organizing books, rearranging them by classification and number.
...This was unexpectedly fun!
I intended to go home early, but I lost track of time and got absorbed in it.
Before I knew it, I had worked until the end time.
I had been agonizing over it until the morning, but I'm glad I went.
7/10 (Thu): The accommodation is decided
The accommodation for our summer vacation trip has been decided.
It's a place that meets everyone's requests and is within our budget.
I'm so excited!!
7/11 (Fri): Books I read and books I borrowed
While waiting at the hospital, I am reading Miri Masuda's 'Let's Go to the 47 Prefectures Alone as a Woman'. I was happy that her trip to my hometown, Yamagata, became a pleasant and warm memory for her.
It made me happy that her trip to my hometown, Yamagata, was a pleasant and warm memory for her.
After the hospital, I went to the library.
I've been using home delivery exclusively lately, so it was nice to have time to browse the bookshelves.
I'm in the mood to read essay books right now, so I borrowed two.
I was also interested in French history, Japanese literature, and writing techniques, but I decided to prioritize my current mood.

7/12 (Sat): Thoughts on the election
I carefully read the bulletin containing the candidates for the House of Councillors election.
I wrote down the candidates whose policies I thought were good.
Since I am a Tokyo resident, I have to choose from 32 candidates.
I managed to narrow it down to 8, but it's difficult from here on.
Maybe I'll just decide based on the political party.
Though I don't really have a party I support either.
<Aside>
I won't reveal the district or gender, but someone I know has a family member running for office.
Hearing from that acquaintance, it seems they are being inconvenienced by their family member's candidacy.
(The acquaintance is not enthusiastic about their family member's candidacy.)
I think it's admirable and wonderful that they are thinking about and working for the country, but I wish they would prioritize their family right in front of them first.
Thank you for sticking with me until the end this week as well.
