Covered in Wounds
I give names to the things I like and continue to use. But I don't name everything. Only the things I'm particularly fond of.
Little Kojuro inside my heart muttered softly.
I think that alone is quite a change, though.
For example, I call the TV Takao.
Why Takao, I feel like I probably wrote about that in an old article.
Takao came to my home in the spring of 2007. That was 17 years ago already.
Yes, it's already been 17 years.
But usually, the lifespan of home appliances definitely comes to an end after 10 years. Lasting 15 years is close to a miracle.
And yet, it's been 17 years.
But now, various malfunctions have started to appear. A while after it passed the 10-year mark, the tuner suddenly broke. I got a repair estimate, figured it would cost several tens of thousands of yen, and gave up on repairing it. Since I use a Blu-ray deck anyway, I decided to use the tuner on the Blu-ray deck.
Next, the coating on the surface of the speakers peeled off, and after that, the pixels on the screen burned out, causing color and image distortion in the center. The entire screen would go blank, or turn solid green or solid red.
I thought it was finally the end, but somehow, it has managed to hold on for over two years now.
And recently, since the start of this year, the power switch turns off on its own. Click.
If I turn it back on several times, it barely recovers. I repeat this almost every week.
Little Kojuro inside my heart muttered softly.
It's covered in wounds, isn't it? Let it retire. It's about time.
This year, I am reaching retirement age. I will receive a certain amount of retirement money. By the end of summer. So, I am thinking of using that. Until then, I want it to hold out somehow. It is merely my own selfishness, though.
The little Kojuro inside my heart muttered softly.
Takao, you poor thing...
When I turned toward the sofa to talk about such things, my wife pointed at my feet, laughed, and said.
You poor thing, Takao. But I want you to do your best. For Takao!
I completely agreed. I decided to make the massage time longer.
I will give a massage, putting my feelings of 'do your best, Takao' into it.
When I give her a massage, my wife is in a good mood.
When my wife is in a good mood, our home is peaceful.
Therefore.
This is fine.
■Postscript■ Day 19/66
Yasu, the head of the After-School Writing Club, is running a brutal project. 66-Day Writing Running. Abbreviated as '66-Day Lyrin'.
There is a theory that it takes about 66 days for a human to form a habit. This project aims to build writing habits and skills. New participants are joining almost every day.
If you enter that you want to start in the comment section of Yasu's article mentioned below, you will receive an invitation email to the magazine.
The rules are the following three.
1. Write at least 300 characters as a guide.
2. When posting, you must post to the magazine (#66DayLyrin).
3. If you skip posting even for one day, you will be expelled from the magazine.
'Expelled'...? Seriously...?
But I, who am terrible at project-based things, decided to participate with trembling hands. Truly, with a pounding heart. When I commented, the invitation arrived.
Now, there is no turning back...
I think you can still participate. If you are interested, please appeal to Yasu in the comment section of the attached article.
