[Mythology Series Part 2 (6)] The story of the one everyone loved but couldn't protect 🌙

From Norse mythology, it's "Baldur" 🌙

Freya is the "Goddess who kept losing things"
Loki is the "God who no one would believe"
Odin is the "God who knew everything but didn't run away"
Heimdall is the "God who stood his ground even while sensing it"
Thor is the "God who fell while winning"

And this time, Baldur is
the story of the "God who everyone tried to protect, but couldn't" (ɵ'ω'ɵ)

Baldur is the most beautiful and wise god in Norse mythology, loved by everyone (ɵ'ω'ɵ)

He was the son of Odin and Frigg, possessing both looks and talent. (He's a boy, but please view him as a boy character)

From one day on, Baldur began to have the same dream every night.

A dream of his own death.

A future where the God of Light perishes.

No matter how many times he saw it, the same dream wouldn't end (๑•́︿•̀๑)

When Baldur consulted the gods,
his mother Frigg moved immediately.

Saying, "I will not let my son die."

Frigg traveled all over the world and made every existence swear an oath ( °▽° )

Fire and water.
Iron and stone.
The earth and the trees.
Diseases and poisons.
Every animal and every snake.

That they would "not harm Baldur."

With this, Baldur became completely invincible.

The gods happily began to play.

When they threw an axe at Baldur, it bounced off.
Even if they stabbed him with a spear, he was unharmed.
Even if they cut him with a sword, he was unharmed.

A game to confirm that "nothing could hurt him."
They repeated the proof that Baldur was safe
while laughing together.

That scene was truly peaceful ( 'ω' )

That is why no one noticed.

That there was one thing being overlooked(ㅅ´ ˘ `)

From this act, the appearance changes.

Black clothes. Green flames. A grinning smile.

This is Loki. Loki disguised as an old woman( '╰╯' )

Loki approached Frigg and, pretending to make small talk, pried the information out of her.

Did you make everything swear an oath? That is amazing. Is there really not a single thing left out?

Frigg answered.

Only the mistletoe was too young, so I did not make it swear an oath. But what could such a small plant possibly do?

Loki laughed.

Slowly, on the inside(ㅅ´ ˘ `)

Loki obtained the mistletoe and fashioned it into a spear( '- )

And then he found the blind god Hodr, who had been staying away from the circle of play.

Baldr's brother. Because he was blind, he could not join in the fun.

Loki called out to him.

Why don't you join the others?

Hodr replied. I don't know where he is. I cannot enjoy myself with everyone else.

Loki took his hand and made him grip the spear. It would be good to aim it this way and throw. I will tell you the direction.

Hodr throws.

The spear flies.

Baldr stands as he always does.

With Baldr's death, the world lost its light,
and that became the trigger for Ragnarok.

The death of the god most deeply mourned in Norse mythology.

Because of one single oversight, the oaths of the entire world became meaningless.

The hardest part this time was "creating white and black with the same character"( 'ω' )

Baldr and Loki.
Light and shadow.
The god who was protected and the god who destroyed.

But the light that vanished will return someday.

That is the god known as Baldur.
