When life feels stagnant, what's missing isn't 'effort' but 'direction'

If you would like to listen to this in audio, please click here

Even though you are trying your best,
your life doesn't seem to be moving forward.

In fact,
the harder you try, the more painful it becomes.

At times like that, we tend to think,
'Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough.'

But is that really the case?

In my personal sessions, I sometimes have clients
create goal settings with me,

and while we work on them together,
many people realize that what was missing wasn't effort,
but the 'direction' they were heading in.

I use a Mandala Chart for goal setting,
and creating the chart involves
placing the 'Dharma (the direction you want to head in)' at the center,
and from there,
deciding on the state of being,
and breaking it down into concrete actions.

Instead of goals thought up in your head,
you verbalize the direction your inner self truly wants to go,
and write down the daily steps to get there.

In doing so, many people say,
'The things I have to do haven't changed,
but the heaviness is gone.'

When you feel like your life is stagnant,
thinking 'I'm trying so hard, but nothing is moving,'
I don't believe it's a lack of effort.

It's just that
the Dharma (the direction you should be heading) is
slightly off.

When we head in the wrong direction,
no matter how much effort we put in,
we will never reach the place we desire.

In fact, the more you try,
the more only discomfort and fatigue accumulate.

That is precisely why,
when you want to move your life forward,
it is important to first review your 'direction'
rather than your 'way of trying.'

Today, I will introduce
5 steps to do just that.

1. Write down what your life will look like in 5 years if you continue as you are.

Imagine 5 years from now as an extension of today.
Please write down a realistic scene of a weekday.

Where do you wake up in the morning, who do you spend time with,
what kind of work do you do,
and with what feelings do you end your day?

Is that future light and easy?
Or is it somewhat suffocating?
Do you feel like something is off?

The discomfort you feel here
will tell you where your Dharma is misaligned.

② Write down why you cannot change your direction

Why can't I
change this direction?
What am I afraid of?
What am I running away from?

Deep down,
there is 'pain I don't want to feel.'
The pain of being disliked,
the fear of being rejected,
the fear of failure,
the anxiety of being alone.

However,
only by processing that pain (undigested emotions)
does the freedom to choose your direction return.

③ Redecide your Dharma (the direction you should head in)

Dharma is your original intended direction.

Here, try to specifically imagine
yourself on a weekday three years from now.

It is important to write down
'how you are' rather than a job title.

'Three years from now, this is how I will be.'
That version of you three years from now
is with whom and where,
spending time in this way.

This will become your axis.

④ Remember it through morning and evening meditation

Dharma,
even once decided, is forgotten in daily life.

That is why we have morning and evening meditation.
Return to your breath, touch the silence,
and remember your direction.

Meditation is
a compass to fine-tune your alignment.

⑤ Practice Karma Yoga without attachment to results

Once your direction is set, just proceed calmly.

Without being attached to results,
sincerely do what needs to be done right in front of you.

That is the practice of Karma Yoga.

Do not rush for results.
Do not compare yourself to others.
Just stack up one step today.

When your inner self is aligned,
reality will begin to move quietly.

Life is not moved by effort, but by direction and way of being.

If you are feeling stagnant right now,
it may not be a lack of effort,
but a sign to re-evaluate your direction.

Remember your Dharma,
align yourself through meditation,
and live your days through Karma Yoga.

With just that,
the flow of your life will surely change.

Please, take a moment to pause
and use these 5 steps
to confirm your Dharma
(the direction you want to head).
