Editorial Diary #13 | What is Foil Stamping?

MyCal is entering its 2nd season!

The weather has become much more spring-like, but how is everyone doing? Looking at the sky...

〇March 20 [Vernal Equinox]
→March 22 [Saturn moves (IN to Aquarius)]
→March 24 [Aries New Moon]

...it has become a busy time with a strong sense of "beginnings & NEW".

In the midst of this, the spring issue of "My Calendar" is being released.

Launched in March 2019, right in the middle of the Jupiter in Sagittarius period, "My Calendar" has successfully reached its 1st anniversary.

In an unstable social climate where you can't see what's ahead, creating a magazine from scratch and successfully delivering it to bookstores and our readers required the extraordinary support of many people. Thank you so much.

Regarding this publishing term... first, let me explain this.

[Foil Stamping]

Some of you may have noticed this after seeing images posted by online bookstores or our members on social media.

The "My" foil that was shining brilliantly on the cover of the first year of MyCal is gone!!

"What does this mean!?"
"Didn't you say in MyCal Kawaraban No. 0 (a newspaper limited to subscribers) that"Foil is the source of happiness power" (Mark-san)?"
"Did the budget finally run out!?"

Given the current times, I think you can guess, but it is a fact that paper prices have risen across the board, and foil is by no means cheap.

"The launch celebration is over. We are establishing a stable form to continue bringing MyCal to the world for a long time to come."
...that was the development that arrived, which felt very Capricorn Jupiter & Saturn-like. However,

the President & Editor-in-Chief (both Sagittarius), whose lingering affection for the "Sagittarius Jupiter Festival 2019" had not yet cooled,could not easily let go of their attachment & obsession with foil...

Editor-in-Chief: "Well, it's fine to have foil stamping, isn't it? It doesn't change that much." (←loose accounting)
President: "Wouldn't it be nice to have foil..." (←likes things bright and flashy)

Editor: "N O"

So, I went to consult with the art director who makes the overall design of MyCal so wonderful every issue(a Capricorn currently facing off against Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto)about what we should do for the cover of MyCal in this new era.

AD: "Oh, but if we do this here, and make it look like this, it feels new, and it might actually be lovely even without foil..."

"...!! (They're right!)"

Isn't something similar happening around you right now?
"I absolutely must have this," "It's always been this way,"
"It's natural for it to be this way," "I will never do XX"
...the moment you realize, "Maybe that's not actually the case." You might be able to work without being shaken on a crowded train every day. A method you thought was "impossible" might actually "have some merit." Things you thought you couldn't do might actually be easy to do. You might find something you love among the things you were prejudiced against.

As explained in the spring issue of "My Calendar," this can be called

a symbolic event of the coming "Age of Wind."You might feel anxious about the scaffolding (common sense/stereotypes) that supported you until now, or the walls (assumptions) that protected you from the rain and wind, being removed.But perhaps, deep down in your heart, you have been waiting for the new wind to blow into this cleared land.

...And so!!
I consider the first year's foil stamping to have been"a gracious gift from the God of Fortune (!?)" and for the second year, MyCal will compete on its content!

Given the current times, I imagine there are moments when you cannot easily go out.

or the W-Ryuji collaboration project"12 Zodiac Buzz Recipes"to work hard at cooking.... I would be happy if you could make MyCal a companion for your spring life!
