To understand my strengths... I tried the "INFP-A" 16-Type Personality Test.
Hello.
This is "One Heart," a piano instructor and mental coach.
This article was published on August 22, 2022, and
was revised and re-edited in April 2025.
This time, I have also added practical tips on"How to leverage the strengths of an INFP-A?"
.
Summary of this article (INFP-A in 3 lines)
INFP-A (Mediator-A) is a person who lives based on "ideals and kindness."
They are highly sensitive and value their own inner world.
They recharge their energy during "alone time" and move forward as themselves, little by little.

The other day, I was casually searching with the keyword"artistic temperament,"and I came across this site.
Even though it says "finish within 12 minutes," if you can answer smoothly, it will be over in about 5 minutes.
It is recommended for short gaps of time, such as while commuting on the train.
It was INFP-A! My diagnosis results and my thoughts on them

My first reaction upon seeing the result was, "...This is spot on!"
My consciousness is always directed more toward dreaming than reality,
and my head is often filled with fantasies and music.
People often tell me I look spaced out and they don't know what I'm thinking... (laughs)
But inside me, there is a story unfolding.
Even if I seem reserved on the outside, I am always passionate on the inside,
and there is a part of me that thinks,
"I want to express myself this way" or "I want to share this worldview."
When I read the results of this test, I thought, "That's exactly it...!"

A story about how the term "True Idealist" really resonated with me
By the way, the INFP type is also described as a "True Idealist," and that is how it is introduced at the beginning of the official 16Personalities website.
True to those words,
I personally value my dreams and ideals very much,
and I feel that my heart is often directed toward the world I "want to be in" rather than reality.
For example,
Even if I appear calm, I have a strong passion inside
I feel incredibly fulfilled when I meet someone I can resonate with
I value my own values and beliefs very highly
I am strongly drawn to "creating" something
I am sensitive to beauty and harmony, and I want to create a gentle space for someone
...and so on.
Thinking "Yes, that's me, I do have those traits," I read through each explanation, savoring every word.
It covers quite a number of pages, including personality, parent-child relationships, romance, and career.
Digging deeper into the diagnosis results.
It is explained in detail over quite a few pages, not only about personality but also about parent-child relationships, romance, and career.
The pages from the second one onwards are in English, but translating them little by little while exploring my own personality was quite an interesting experience.
(At the end of this note, I have also posted a link to an article with my translation and personal commentary, so if you are interested, please read until the end.)
My personality type as seen through the balance meter
This diagnosis is composed of the following five axes.
Mind (Extraverted or Introverted)
Energy (Intuitive or Observant)
Nature (Thinking or Feeling)
Tactics (Judging or Prospecting)
Identity (Assertive <A> or Turbulent <T>)

What is the difference between INFP-A and INFP-T?
My test result was the "INFP-A (Assertive)" type.
This is the part that differentiates it from the same INFP "-T (Turbulent)" type, and
depending on how you look at it, my impression is that it splits into "positive" and "naive" types.
The A type I was diagnosed with is, if anything, optimistic.
It's the type that can switch feelings quickly or think, "Well, it'll work out somehow."
It seems they are not easily dragged down by stress and tend to maintain a relatively high sense of self-esteem.
On the other hand, the T type might be a bit more naive.
They think deeply about many things, are prone to blaming themselves, and
tend to harbor anxieties like "Will this be okay..."
It's not about which is better or worse, but
I realized that noticing your "habits of feeling" is the first step toward self-understanding.

[Update] How can I make the most of my INFP-like sensitivity?
I myself have sometimes felt it difficult to live,
not knowing how to handle my own high sensitivity.
But recently, by observing when my heart is moved,
I've found more situations where I can use it as a strength.
For example...
Valuing time to think deeply alonebrings inspiration
Taking notes on moments when my emotions are stirredallows me to use them in my writing later
Being sensitive to people's wordscan be used as a "listening skill" or "empathy"
Rather than just nodding at the test results,
I feel that approaching it from the perspective of "How will I nurture these strengths?"
leads to deeper self-understanding.

Summary and a few realizations
What surprised me most about this test was that it said,
"You are also adept at learning second and third languages."
Ah, that's true...
When I was learning Italian in college, I feel like I was able to pick up travel conversation quite quickly.
Though I can barely speak it now (lol).
I used to be "prejudiced" against English too, but because of these words,
I realized that there is a part of me that thinks, "Maybe I should give it a try."

Conclusion
I realized that personality tests aren't just about whether they are "accurate or not,"
but that they can be a catalyst for "getting to know yourself all over again."I thought.
If you are feeling a bit uneasy right now,
there might be a "hidden strength" sleeping within that feeling.
Getting to know yourself can feel scary... but it is also a very liberating thing.
Using the keyword INFP as a starting point,
I hope your own way of living becomes a little lighter.
I would be happy if this note could be one of those doors.🌿
May you have a day filled with "love" today as well.
