The world seen from a higher 'perspective'. The path to 'Satori' (enlightenment).
Hello.
I am 'One Heart', a piano instructor and mental coach.
*This article is a slightly revised and re-edited version of one I wrote six months ago.
I still cherish the feelings I had back then, so please let me share it with you once again.
From the day I encountered 'Satori', my journey of the heart began.
On note, I have previously delved into and discussed the 'workings of the heart' and 'brain mechanisms' in my own way.
But in fact, behind that lies this experience of my own.
June 2015, the day my mother reached her final moments.
Feeling as if my consciousness was floating, or perhaps not there at all...
Looking at my mother lying in bed, I quietly thought this.
'I want to attain Satori...'
Those words, which welled up naturally from within me for the first time in my life.
Even now, the scene from that time remains clearly etched in the depths of my heart.
Days spent watching over her as a family to fulfill my mother's wish to 'spend her final moments at home'.
Along with feelings of gratitude, there was a lingering frustration with my 'helpless self' somewhere inside.
In my heart, questions like these were swirling around.
“If it were an enlightened person, how would they perceive this moment?”
“Would they be able to remain calm even at a time like this...?”
I am also the grandchild of a chief priest.
Perhaps that is why I suddenly found myself thinking about 'death' and the 'heart' that monks have faced for so long.
And from that day on, my journey toward 'Satori' began.
Ten years have passed since then.
While being tossed about by waves of emotion, I gained many lessons and realizations, and I have changed little by little.
Even now, there are times when my feelings waver, but
I have become able to leave them 'as they are'.
I have become able to avoid getting caught up in worries and confusion.
That is the realization I have.
And last year, I moved from Nagoya to Kanagawa.
I made a fresh start in a completely new place.
"Taking on a challenge in my late 40s is a bit nerve-wracking, but it might not be so bad."
Thinking that way, I am now encountering many 'realizations' in my daily life.
There are times when my heart is restless, but by learning a little more about the mechanisms of emotions and how the brain works,
strangely enough,I have come to be able to see myself objectively.
This note magazine, 'Philosophy of Self-Care: A Recommendation for Satori,' was born from my own real-life experiences.
As clearly as possible,
as gently as possible,
and in a way that offers some kind of 'hint'.
With those thoughts in mind, I am writing these one by one.
For example...
The habit of thinking 'something is missing'.
The pattern of thought where I find myself thinking, 'It would be better if it were more like this.'
But in reality, just realizing that it was an 'assumption' can help you relax your shoulders.
We tend to unconsciously become the 'protagonist of our own drama'.
Every time something happens, a little drama begins in our hearts, and we end up getting caught up in our emotions.
At times like that, just pause for a moment...
'Is this thought really mine?'
'Isn't it just my ego whispering?'
By simply asking yourself these small questions, the way you see the world might change.
Life is a journey of the heart.
We change little by little, but surely, in our daily lives.
By noticing those changes, stillness is born in your heart, and you can become kinder to others.
And you can live more naturally.
If this magazine can serve as a catalyst for such small changes...
That is my wish right now.
This note magazine is packed with episodes that I want you to read if you are...
'Someone who gets tired from overthinking'
'Someone looking for tips to settle your heart'
Even if the word "Satori" doesn't quite ring a bell,
perhaps just a single word might send a gentle breeze through your heart.
A time to face yourself, slowly... and gently.
I would be happy if I could quietly accompany you on such a "journey" of the heart.
