Is it true that getting frustrated causes acne? The surprising relationship between stress and skin problems, and how to deal with it
📕 Emotions and Skin Connection Series | Episode 3
〜Are skin problems a sign of 'unprocessed emotions'?—
“Why am I the only one getting so much acne...”
Are you suppressing your emotions by telling yourself, 'I shouldn't get angry, I shouldn't get frustrated'?
Actually, that restraint might be affecting your skin. Have you ever had days where you forced yourself to smile, thinking that way?
But you know, my skin back then just kept getting worse and worse.
Acne kept popping up, and it was even painful to the touch.
Even after taking care of it, it wouldn't heal, and I'd think, 'Why? Again?'...
Every time I looked in the mirror, I felt troubled inside.
What is the relationship between emotions and hormonal balance?
Actually, when we feel frustrated or angry,
inside our bodies, the
'sympathetic nervous system (the tension mode switch)'
becomes active.
Because of that, hormonal balance can be disrupted,
sebum secretion increases, and your skin's barrier can break down.
When sebum increases, pores become clogged more easily,
and acne is more likely to form.
My skin was in exactly that state.
But the cause wasn't 'lack of skincare.'
The real cause was... emotions I had suppressed too much.
Just loosening up your neck area can soothe your feelings
Emotions actually tend to accumulate in the
actually neck and ear areas.
When there is anger or tension, you unconsciously tense up your shoulders and neck,
and they stay tight the whole time.
So, try this self-care routine👇
🌿 Self-care: How to gently loosen your neck and ear area
Gently cup your earlobes with warm hands
From there, stroke down along the back of your ears to your neck
Do this slowly about 5 or 6 times while exhaling from your mouth, saying 'Whew...'
The point is,
without applying force, just touch gently.
Try to slowly savor the 'feeling of loosening up.'

💭 Asking myself today's question
"Honestly, who did you want to say what to?"
"What were you holding back?"
Just by letting out even a little bit of the emotions that have built up inside you,
mysteriously, your skin might start to feel softer too.
Anger isn't a bad emotion,
it's a chance to notice your "true feelings."
📬 Finally
Feeling your emotions and letting them go.
That might be the shortcut to gently conditioning your skin.
