I am grateful to share this time with you.

I am writing this text
as production notes for the album “The Night Goes On”.
Rather than a commentary on the songs,
this is a record looking back on tracks 1 through 11
as a single night.

If you like,
I would be happy if you read this after listening to the music,
or during the quiet hours of the night.

I thought the previous night had ended,
but it hadn't.

Even though I should have gone home,
even though I should have slept,
the night just changed its shape,
and was still there.

The first track of this album
begins with "I couldn't go home until the rain stopped."

The reason I couldn't go home,
was it the rain, or my feelings?
Probably both.

While I stood still,
the night deepened on its own.

Morning came without me replying,
I cried with a face that showed nothing had happened,
and the kinder people were, the more I fell silent.

Rather than being blamed by someone,
being asked "Are you okay?"
can sometimes make me lose my words.

The night doesn't make you
explain those things one by one.

There were moments when I felt
that only the night was on my side.

In the daytime world,
you have to have your act together,
but at night, even if you don't,
it lets you be as you are.

In exchange,
I only got better at practicing how to smile,
and the habit of saying "I'm okay"
remained in my body.

At the eighth track,
the question changes for the first time.

Not what should I do,
but is it okay to be here?

There is no answer.
But I felt like I no longer had to look
for a reason to keep staying in the night.

Without telling anyone,
I had become stronger.

It's not that I wanted to be strong.
I just didn't break.

Even so, the city moves on,
and names fade away under the neon lights.

Yet the morning comes anyway.

Even though I didn't ask for it,
and I wasn't prepared for it,
the light shines in,
and today begins.

With nothing resolved,
just on the condition that I am alive.

This album
is not a story about ending the night.

The night continues.
Changing its shape, changing its place,
it appears again as another night.

Even without salvation,
even without answers,
the fact that you lived through that night
remains behind properly.

That alone
means this night was not in vain.
