[BGM] LoFi Hip Hop Kawagoe, Tokorozawa, Kumagaya: Emotional sounds to listen to while walking through early summer in Saitama - Creative backstory

I have released a Lo-fi Hip-Hop project themed around Saitama Prefecture. The settings for this installment are Kawagoe, Tokorozawa, and Kumagaya.
Nationwide, Saitama Prefecture is not often talked about as a tourist destination. It is neither a massive metropolis like Tokyo, nor a city with a strong image like Shonan or Kobe. However, when you actually walk through it, there is a unique atmosphere that arises precisely because it exists in between those extremes.
Beyond the residential areas, there is a wide sky, and if you walk a little further, there is a flowing river. Just by stepping away from the bustle in front of the station, quiet moments remain.
In this project, I wanted to depict that sense of 'negative space' characteristic of Saitama through music.
The charm of the land of Saitama
Saitama possesses a beauty inherent in daily life itself, rather than flashy tourist attractions.
Scenery that stands on its own without the need for special events. The roads someone walks every day. The evening sky you look up at without thinking. The landscape along the river.
There is a mysterious power in those fragments of daily life that stirs the emotions.
The Lo-fi Hip-Hop genre is music that is naturally compatible with such 'time that isn't a grand narrative'.
This time, I structured the piece to travel through three regions, focusing on the slightly humid air unique to early summer and the emotional shifts during the time leading up to the evening.
Chapter 1: Kawagoe - Shingashi River
The first half of the project is Kawagoe.
When you think of Kawagoe, you might have a strong image of the warehouse-style streetscape and tourist spots. However, this time I turned my attention to a slightly different place.
It is the quiet scenery along the Shingashi River.
Not the main street where tourists come and go, but just a little outside of it. The light reflecting on the river surface and the atmosphere that changes in harmony with the flow of the water.
There is a unique tranquility in places that seem to exist on the boundary between daily life and tourist destinations.
Tracks like 'Light Remaining on the River Surface,' 'The Eve of Wind Chimes,' and 'Negative Space by the Water' were produced while imagining such peaceful moments.
This Saitama edition begins quietly from here.
Chapter 2: Tokorozawa - Higashigawa Green Road
The middle section is Tokorozawa.
Tokorozawa has a certain 'comfort typical of a suburban city'.
It lacks the oppressive feeling of a major metropolis, yet it is different from a purely rural city.
The path to the park, the light filtering through the trees, the sky stretching into the distance. It is a place that makes you want to think, strangely enough, while walking.
In this set of tracks, I depict that slightly ambiguous time before heading home through themes like 'Blue Sky on the Way Home,' 'Outlines of a Detour,' and 'Afterglow of Sunlight Filtering Through Trees.'
Not heading anywhere in particular, nor standing still.
Just walking, yet for some reason, it leaves an impression.
There are times like that.
The Tokorozawa part is the chapter in the Saitama series that faces the 'present' the most.
Chapter 3: Kumagaya - Arakawa Riverbed
The latter half is Kumagaya.
The setting is the Arakawa riverbed. A wide sky. A long-stretching cycling road. A view that looks out into the distance.
If I were to name one landscape that is typical of Saitama, I might choose this riverbed scenery.
It doesn't have the obvious appeal of a tourist spot. However, it has a charm that makes you want to remember it again and again.
As evening approaches, the color of the sky changes, and the reflection on the river surface changes too. By the time the distant streetlights begin to flicker on, a feeling like groundless nostalgia is born.
'Bridge Shadow Nostalgia,' 'Beyond the River Breeze,' 'Distant Lights,' and 'Groundless Nostalgia.'
These tracks were born from the atmosphere of that riverbed.
About this video
In the video, a young painter continues to paint the scenery of Saitama in an atelier with a cat. This time, there is a bit more movement, allowing for a more natural sense of the passage of time.
However, the video itself is not the main focus.
The goal is for the completed scenery and music to connect gently and overlap with the memories and emotions of each viewer.
Conclusion
This Saitama edition is not a work that depicts flashy, spectacular views. Rather, it is a work that depicts the emotions that remain in landscapes that could be found anywhere.
Kawagoe, Tokorozawa, and Kumagaya.
While each has a different expression, what they have in common is the 'space found within ordinary daily life'.
When you want to stop for a moment in your busy daily life. When you want a companion for reading or working. Or when you just want to feel a sense of nostalgia.
