I was chasing trends, and before I knew it, a manga series was born
I didn't intend to create a manga series from the beginning.
What I first attempted was video production using AI.
I used illustrations created with Gemini, made videos with CapCut, and posted them.
These didn't see much growth.
After that, I started consulting with AI to think about video structures while referencing works that were getting views on short-form videos.
Then, one of them reached about 30,000 views.
Furthermore, another one reached about 50,000 views.
"This might actually work."
Thinking that, I increased the number of posts.
However, after that, they didn't grow as I had hoped.
When I started posting several videos a day, many of them stopped at double or triple-digit views.
Did the posting frequency have an impact?
Or was it another reason?
I don't know for sure.
However, I did learn one thing.
Video generation AI is more costly than I thought.
When I consulted with AI, another path became visible
"Isn't there a way to continue while keeping costs down?"
While I was discussing that with ChatGPT and Claude Code,
I decided to try the faceless video method.
That was how the unemployed middle-aged man was born.
Different things happen every time, but
only the ending is always the same.
"I am truly, deeply sorry."
I never change this punchline.
I started creating short works like that.

From the modern version to the Edo version
After continuing for a while,
I started to think,
"I want a little more variety."
That is how the Edo version was born.
Instead of the modern man apologizing on his knees,
in the Edo version, he is pushed to the brink of ritual suicide.
Of course, he doesn't actually commit ritual suicide.
In the end,
"It is all over now; I have no choice but to apologize."
I wrap it up with that classic punchline.

Before I knew it, even the cat had become a protagonist.
As I continued making more manga,
the white cat that appeared every time gradually gained more presence.
"This cat alone could probably be a work in itself."
That is how it started,
"The Siberian Queen"
.

Now,
in the modern version too.
in the Edo version too.
in the cat manga too.
in the chibi character manga too.
The Queen appears as if it's only natural.
I didn't plan this from the beginning.
Looking back now,
videos.
faceless videos.
modern version manga.
Edo version manga.
Cat manga.
Chibi character manga.
And long-form manga.
The world has been expanding little by little.
However, I didn't have this all planned out from the beginning.
I try one thing,
and if it doesn't work, I change it a little.
I consult with AI,
and change it a little more.
It's a process of repetition.
The series is growing little by little.
I think the number of works will continue to increase.
However, rather than writing an article for each individual work,
I plan to introduce them once I have a collection of several works.
Also,
about "how I keep the characters consistent,"
"what the workflow for creating the manga is like,"
and "the division of roles with AI,"
I would like to compile these into articles or a magazine once I have a few more works accumulated.
For now, I am still in the midst of trial and error.
However, that very process of trial and error might be what makes this series interesting.
