[DQ 1&2 HD-2D Play Notes] #52 The Pitiful Gods of Evil Spirits
Summary of Belial's dialogue
"We, Atlas, Pazuzu, and Belial, were summoned by Hargon and are in a state of being his familiars. We have no choice but to obey him. Please, defeat Hargon."
It seems Belial has finally grown tired
of being worked to the bone
under Hargon.
I wonder how many days off he gets a week, and how many hours he works a day?
Come to think of it,
do labor standards laws even apply to religious corporations?
Well, it looks like I'm about to fight
the pitiful Gods of Evil Spirits who are being worked to the bone:
Atlas, Pazuzu, and Belial.
First, at the place in Hargon's house
where something is enshrined,
I'll hold up the Statue of the Evil God to head to the upper level.

talk too much! (lol)

don't bottle it all up! (lol)

Relax! (lol)
Right,
heading to the upper level.
Atlas has appeared!

spirited things again.
Zero reflection!

(Prince of Midenhall)
Defense down -> Oomph -> Cheer -> Full-power Slash
dealt about 2800 damage.
As expected of
the Midenhall prince, the easygoing muscle-head!
Atlas is just big,
really doesn't get much screen time,
is forgettable, and on top of that, weak.
After I defeated him,
he was mumbling something,
which was pitiful, but
I'm running out of space, so I'll skip it!
Next is...

"before we could even brace ourselves..."
Enter Bazuzu, who is terrible at surprise attacks.

Luck seeds are delicious (munch munch)
(Prince of Lorne)
Bazuzu is complaining about the cult he belongs to
while eating his favorite snack,
bananas.
Wouldn't the bananas freeze
in this cold in Rhone?
Like, 'Huh!? It's hard!?'
Bazuzu might be eating frozen bananas,
but I'll leave that for now.
As for Bazuzu,
his plans aren't going as expected,
and his work progress seems extremely poor,
so he's beyond just being in a bad mood;
he's a bit desperate.
(Desperation bananas instead of desperation drinking?)
Isn't this a classic middle-management trope?!
Now, moving on to
a Q&A with Bazuzu.
He was kind enough to
answer as much as he knew.
Q: "Why are you corrupting people's hearts?"
A: "Because to summon a super scary god,
we need sacrifices with evil souls."
Q: "What's this scary god?"
A: "Apparently, it's the God of Destruction."
Q: "What are you going to do once you summon it?"
A: "I don't really know, but they say it's going to remake the world."

What the big boss says (munch munch)
is hard to understand! (Prince of Lorne)
Yes! Battle with Bazuzu!

Boom! (Others dead)

is gone again!!
(Prince of Lorne)

"These three are useless in the end," is what
the Prince of Lorne might be saying,
or maybe not, but
with a final desperate "Full-Body Slash," he defeated Bazuzu,
with the Prince of Lorne as the last one standing.
Bazuzu might actually be a capable worker,
because his Beast Mode followed by repeated Begiragons
right when my Magic Barrier wore off
was quite troublesome.
Besides that,
he has a surprisingly diverse repertoire:
Zaraki, Begiragon, Blizzard, physical attacks,Mahotorn, and Sleep.
Thanks to that, I'm
in tatters...
I'll offer a banana to Bazuzu-san for his valiant effort and fold my hands in prayer!

(Loto)
Bazuzu-san was just doing a job he didn't enjoy,
being worked to the bone.
It's a bit pitiful,
but with this, the subjugation is complete.
Next up is Belial-san.

Let's fight!

Belial-san is also troublesome if you let your guard down.
He gets tough with Skara,
and his Magic Awakening makes his Ionazun painful...
However, Loto's Demon Slash and Full-Power Slash
exploded, and we won.

and apply it to the future!
In the end, my impressions of the Gods of Evil Spirits are:
Atlas... forgettable
Bazuzu... talkative and funny
Belial... gets a lot of screen time
Furthermore, regarding the subjugation,
Loto has cut down all of the
Gods of Evil Spirits.
In my opinion, among them,
Bazuzu-san was the funniest guy.
Well,
before heading to Hargon-san's private room

I'm the only one left doing all the
defeating,
(Loto)

is that okay?
(Loto)

Well, I'd like to move forward, but
it's cold and they probably want to go to the bathroom, so
I'll head back to the Rhone Shrine for now.
Bathroom breaks are necessary.
Unlike the Hargon Cult,
which doesn't seem to follow labor laws
and has extremely low executive engagement, I think we need to make sure
to provide break times here.
Ta-da-da-da-da-ta-ta-ta♪
(That's the inn theme)
See you next time!
