Celebrate your birthday at Book Hotel Jimbocho

For your anniversary, do something you especially love!
Movies, art museums, buffets, and stylish cafes are nice, but have you thought about it carefully?
That's when a pure white hotel room on Instagram caught my eye. It seems to be called the MANGA ART ROOM, located on the top floor of Book Hotel Jimbocho.
I love reading paper books! I love manga too. I love them so much I could read all night long.
In that case, I have no choice but to book it.
For my birthday, I'm going to Book Hotel Jimbocho.

White Cave / MANGA CAVE WHITE

The hotel where you find "your book"—that is Book Hotel Jimbocho.
The room I'm staying in tonight is on the 12th floor, where the walls, ceiling, bookshelves, and bed are all pure white. It's aptly named "White Cave / MANGA CAVE WHITE"!

First, I check in on the 1st floor, which looks like a showroom for books.
2nd floor "Falling in love with love," 3rd floor "In the mood to cry today"...
Each floor has a themed bookshelf, so I take the elevator and stop at every floor to look at the books lined up.
4th floor "Uh... Essays," 5th floor "Think, think, think," 6th floor "Organizing your lifestyle," 7th floor "You're a celebrity too," 8th floor "Travel mood through books"... I skip the 9th floor "All-nighter Mystery" because I don't want to run into any scary books, 10th floor "Wanting to feel gentle," 11th floor "Business books galore!," and then.
Finally, I arrive at the 12th floor "MANGA ART ROOM."

Understood.
I'll cast aside all those "reality" things for now.

This hotel offers such a book matching service.
If you answer an email survey by two days before your stay, two books will be selected for you based on your responses. These are the books I was handed when I checked into the hotel.

The "Little King" was so interesting! I was surprised because even though someone else chose the book, it was so much to my taste.
It feels like my inner self is being peered into based on my survey answers.
If they present you with the perfect book, you can just be impressed and think, "Well, as expected of a book concierge!" and if it's not quite the right book, you can just chuckle to yourself and think, "Ah, even a book concierge couldn't quite read my inner self."
For a guest, you get to have a mysterious experience like drawing a 300-yen book fortune, all for this price.
I highly recommend it.

I still want to read, but my eyelids are closing; I still want to read, but the sun is rising.

May I talk about the story of the little king?
In the world of the little king, children are born big and know everything. Then, as they grow older, their bodies gradually shrink and they slowly forget various things. Yes, it is the opposite of this world.
Is it a story aimed at people who have forgotten their childlike hearts? No, you might not be able to keep up without a childlike heart.
I am aware that I have plenty of my childlike heart left.
Ah, did they figure it out because I answered "The Chronicles of Narnia" as a book that left a lasting impression on me?
It was a book that made me think about this and that after I finished reading it.

Once you read a book like that, the night passes in the blink of an eye.
With a midnight snack of donuts and coffee, I try opening the manga in the room one after another.
I read just the first volume, then reach for the next work.
I'm curious about the sequels, but I want to look at every single manga in the room.
It's interesting. I didn't know about this work. This binding is elaborate! This is a work I wanted to read...
The clock keeps ticking, the date changes, and my eyelids grow heavy.
There isn't enough time.
I still want to read so much more...

You can lounge and doze off on the fluffy Simmons bed, or wake up early to continue reading from last night.

I set my alarm for 7:00 AM because this was the book I really wanted to read:
"LIFE MEETS ART / Rooms of 250 Artists Around the World"

Every moment since I stepped into this hotel yesterday evening has been special, and I was able to spend the most wonderful birthday I have ever experienced.

When climbing the jagged white stairs that look like they might prick your feet, you can feel like a mischievous child, laughing and sticking your tongue out at an object with a "Please do not touch" sign.
For some reason, the drip coffee in the room was my favorite dark roast Mandheling.
The first thing I read was "The Landlord and Me" by Taro Yabe, which I borrowed from the bookshelf on the 7th floor, and in it, Yabe-san and the landlord drink hojicha. And for some reason, the tea bags in the room were not green tea or barley tea, but hojicha.
The electric kettle provided was a BALMUDA one that I had been curious about for a while, and it was a pleasure to use as it boiled water quickly.
And above all, I encountered many books that I could never have found on my own.

Next time I come, I want to visit the good old cafes of Jimbocho. And I plan to check in exactly at 3:00 PM so I can read books for even one minute longer.
Looking forward to another special time and meeting books I never imagined.
