Principle 1: Identify the child's 'Sensitive Period' 👁️
What is a sensitive period?
It is a period when a child can easily acquire specific skills. If you provide an appropriate environment during this time, they will learn with surprising focus.
Main Sensitive Periods
Sensitive period for order (ages 1-4): Interest in rules and sequences
Sensitive period for language (ages 0-6): Strong interest in words
Sensitive period for numbers (ages 4-6): Interest in concepts of numbers and quantities

Practical Example: A-chan (4 years old) and the sensitive period for numbers
Recently, at preschool, A-chan has been obsessed with Seguin boards. '10 and 3 make 13!', '20 and 7 make 27!' She works on it voluntarily for over an hour every day.
This is proof that she has entered the sensitive period for numbers. We do not force her to move on to other activities, but let her continue until she is fully satisfied.
