The free gallery at 19M, a new facility housing workshops for the artisans who support Chanel, is highly recommended for children too!
Ever since a friend of my older brother's mom told me about it and I visited for the first time a few months ago, it has become a place my children love, and since we live nearby, we've been going almost every week, Le19M.
It is a facility that just opened in 2022, gathering the workshops of the artisans who support Chanel, and it also includes a gallery and a cafe. As for why it is called 19M, it is said that the name incorporates the 19th arrondissement of Paris where the facility is located, the fact that Chanel founder Gabrielle Chanel was born on August 19th, and the M stands for 'mode' (fashion) and 'métier d'art' (artistic crafts).
During this period, they were holding an exhibition titled "Carla Fernández. The Future is Handmade," which brought together artists from Mexico to create works in collaboration with the artisans belonging to the workshops at 19M. I was so happy that the children were unusually interested in the clothing exhibition and enjoyed it immensely.
The gallery is free, and the workshops held every weekend have plenty of activities for children, making it a truly wonderful place. It's located on the edge of Paris and is a bit difficult to get to, but if you love fashion, I definitely want you to visit at least once!!
They take a relatively long time to prepare for the next special exhibition, so you will be disappointed if you don't check their website before you go 😢
The 19th arrondissement is not a tourist destination, and before I lived here, I had an image of it being a dangerous area I didn't want to go near, but now that I've found so many places to play with my children, I've come to love it so much that I don't want to leave.
