[Adult Field Trip 2] Marveling at the beauty of an Islamic mosque 👀✨
I've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to update my note. 💦
This is my first update in about 10 days.
The place we are visiting this time is the "Tokyo Camii & Turkish Culture Center" 🌺
It is an Islamic mosque (place of worship) with a beautiful dome that is often featured in the media, so many of you may already know about it.
I had also wanted to visit for a long time, and in late August, before summer vacation ended, I went with my daughter!
▼ An Islamic mosque that you can visit freely

After walking for about 5 minutes from Yoyogi-Uehara Station in Tokyo, you will see a building with an exotic exterior.

This facility can be visited freely even if you are not a Muslim. For first-time visitors, they also offer a guided tour of the building in Japanese on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays starting at 14:30, which we participated in this time.

▼ A break with Turkish coffee ☕
Since we arrived early, there were hardly any people gathered in the hall yet, so a staff member guided us to the cafe & library on the second floor.

▼ A glittering wedding reception at the restaurant 💖✨
When the time came, I went down to the first floor, and before I knew it, about 30 Japanese people had gathered. All the women were wearing scarves or shawls on their heads to cover their hair.
Regarding clothing, there was also a rule that it must be long sleeves, long pants, or long skirts (covering down to the ankles) and not expose much of the body.

On this day, the restaurant on the first floor was reserved for a wedding reception. The groom was Japanese, and I believe the bride was Pakistani.
The lobby was filled with men and women in dazzling traditional costumes, creating a glamorous atmosphere🌹✨

▼ Golden Arabic calligraphy on the building
"Well then, let's go outside." With that, we all went around to look at the exterior.

▼ Worship in the gorgeous dome
We entered the building again, and it was finally time to tour the mosque (prayer hall)!!

Near the entrance, people who had finished the wedding ceremony were gathering.
From here on, we take off our shoes to enter.

Wow, how beautiful!!🥰

I had seen it in photos, but seeing it in person was truly delicate and beautiful, it took my breath away (I'm so glad I came to see it~😭).
I cannot take pictures of the worship, but below this photo, the believers are kneeling on the floor praying (we are sitting in the back).
Occasionally, people related to the wedding would pass by, and their dresses and accessories were dazzling✨
The facility tour is free, but there is a donation box at the exit of the prayer hall, so it's a good idea to make a small donation~.
▼ Sharing some delicious bean soup
When we went down to the first floor, we were told we could have some of the bean soup and bread prepared for the wedding reception.
I wonder what it tastes like?
I'll gratefully accept!

I enjoyed the piping hot bean soup, blowing on it as I ate. It had a deep, delicious flavor💕
In addition to this, there was also a supermarket selling halal food (food permitted to be eaten according to Islamic law).
That concludes the tour. The very exotic and wonderful building was observed thoroughly inside and out, and I was able to interact closely with Muslims, whom I don't usually have contact with.
I feel like my world has expanded just a little bit.
A world of Islam that you can easily visit in Tokyo. If you are interested, why not visit it at least once? 😊
★Points★
・You can visit freely, but weekend guided tours are recommended.
・Wear long sleeves and long pants, and women should wrap a scarf around their heads and so on.
・Photography is only possible with a camera attached to a mobile phone.
★Tokyo Camii is here
★Bonus★
To learn about Islam in advance, I read a manga called 'Satoko and Nada'.It is a story about a Japanese woman who studies abroad in America and shares a room with a Muslim woman.
I realized that the person under the veil is just an ordinary woman like me. It's interesting, so I recommend it♪
