Learning How to Take a Break from the Stance of a Bird
It was a day when the quiet stance of a bird gently calmed my heart, which had been shaken by the heat.
It is hot today.
Walking outside, the heat of the shimmering sun makes my body feel sluggish. Even though I was living in the winter air just a short while ago,
I cannot believe it has become this hot as soon as May began. Thinking about how hot the summer will be from here on out made me feel a little weary.
Today, as the signs of summer outside have grown stronger, it felt as if even my mind was melting in the heat. At that moment, what caught my eye was a single bird standing quietly on the screen.
It is very cute.
Its yellow feathers are bathed in light, the green background is cool, and
it was as if it were saying, "Why don't you take a break here?"
That green seemed to carry a cool breeze, and I felt as if I had been gently saved by that small world.
I, who had been a little irritated by the heat, felt I learned something from the sight of that bird, which remained calm and undisturbed by its environment even while perched on a thorny branch.
A thorny branch is by no means a good environment for relaxing. Yet, the bird is just there, cool and quiet.
It does not waste its energy, it does not get irritated, and it remains composed. As I watched it, I felt a little ashamed of how I had been acting just moments before.
It is just hot, yet I was irritated, lost my composure, and
I realized that I was the one disrupting my own "flow of energy."
Today, the bird taught me about stillness and cool composure.
For the intense heat that is to come,
I feel like I have received a little bit of energy.
