Fireworks-related day labor is fun but exhausting, honestly~🎆

My family loves fireworks festivals, and if we get the chance, we tend to go see them even if it means buying those crazy expensive reserved seats.
It seems like they're being held in many places again this year, so I checked the schedule, but my work and other plans overlapped perfectly, and everything was wiped out🥲
Among them, there was a fireworks festival a bit further away, and it was the only one where my schedule was free, so I tried inviting my family.
But then, my daughter had a part-time job, my son had a basketball game, and my wife had to drive my son back and forth...
What, am I the only one free❗🤣
Damn it, if it's come to this, there's only one thing left to do.
Day labor it is❗

I was so pumped when I signed up for this...
Who would have thought that the incident where I had to leave early due to heatstroke at a food truck during a music festival a little while ago would happen...
I had already committed to this day labor job before that incident, so I can't cancel it now...

It'll work out somehow.
Or rather, I have to make it work.
Because if I leave early, I won't be able to see the fireworks.
When I looked up the work location, it seems to be super close to the launch site😳
I must endure until the end no matter what, at all costs❗

Anyway, I went to bed early the night before, and the day arrived.
I prepared a super heavy bag packed with heatstroke prevention goods.
I thought about going to the site by motorcycle, but it seems there are traffic restrictions, and since it's a place I'm going to for the first time and it looks complicated, I'll go by train🚋💨
When I arrived at the site, preparations for various food stalls and viewing seats were underway.

I passed through there and came near what I assume is the work location.
It's already insanely hot.
If I were a squid, I wouldn't even need a whole night to become dried squid; I'm confident I could become a perfect dried squid in five minutes🦑

Maybe they'll launch them super close by, right❓
I have to conserve my energy as much as possible and keep my body cool while working hard until the end.

While killing time in the shade for a while, I looked at the stage on the beach and saw some girls who looked like idols doing a rehearsal.

And after wandering around, the time came, so I went to the site, and there were about 30 staff members in total, and it was already chaotic with preparations.

I was wondering what kind of work it would be, and suddenly I was handed a bento and told to take the 45-minute break that was in the contract😳
Wait, so does that mean the work starts 45 minutes late, and then it's non-stop from there...?
That's crazy, hey❗
And I just ate a ridiculously huge burger at Burger King for lunch, too❗

Well, it can't be helped.
I forced myself to eat the bento and started work.
Today's job is to carry charcoal for the BBQ.
That's a super hot position🥵

I carry the charcoal lit at the charcoal station to the grills at each table.
I feel like an Olympic torch runner now.

It seems about 400 guests are coming today, and there are a ton of tables.
By the way, it's 18,000 yen for adults and 10,000 yen for children.
They're making a killing, huh!💰️
Well, I guess you get to see fireworks from this close and eat some delicious-looking meat...
It's hosted by a famous hotel, so the meat seems good, and they brought it in a freezer truck to manage the ingredients properly...
No, even so, I still think it's expensive😅

Then, while we were preparing, we had a watermelon break🍉
I'm grateful for that.

And finally, it's time to open.
400 guests are pouring in💦
That said, we on the charcoal team don't have much to do at first.
After a while, a request for help came from the drink distribution staff at the reception team.
I raised my hand and went over there immediately😂
Because it looked cool, and it seemed fun to interact with the guests.

I wanted to stay there forever, but as soon as the line disappeared, I was sent back to the charcoal team...
Because it was getting to be the time when we had to start grilling meat and moving around to replenish the charcoal🍖

And after I became an Olympic torchbearer of sorts, replenishing the charcoal, the fireworks finally started🎇
I worked hard today for this, so I'm definitely going to watch them.
Once the fireworks started, the guests were mesmerized by them, so no one called for us, and we got to enjoy the show to our heart's content.

I snuck off to the smoking area and watched while having a smoke.
Because there was nothing to do, and it was pitch black around there, so no one would notice if I slacked off🤣

Then, finally, a big, flashy finale went up, and the surroundings lit up.

From there on, it was just cleaning up.
Collecting trash, gathering the grills, and so on.
Honestly, I was getting a headache from heatstroke again, so my movements were slowing down, but I did my best until the end.

And then the time was up, and work was over~🙌
The heatstroke was bad today too, but I think it was better than the food truck gig at the festival the other day.
But the trip home after this was tough💦
Because I had to walk through the crowds for nearly an hour to get to the station😱

Man, fireworks are great, aren't they?
Plus, getting paid to watch them from this close is the best.
Even though the work is super exhausting.
I want to do fireworks-related day labor next year too, but the temperature is rising every year, and I'm getting older, so I'm finding it harder to endure the heat; this might be my last year~🥲
Well, anyway, I didn't leave early (though it was close), and I was able to fully enjoy the fireworks, so I'm very satisfied😆
