I was drawing a manga
I kept starting to practice Clip Studio Paint and then giving up, over and over again, but I finally ended up having to draw a manga, and a situation arrived where I had no choice but to use Clip Studio Paint.
With a friend helping me, I started using Clip Studio Paint with baby steps.
I think I've finally reached a point where I can manage to use it... although there are still many functions I haven't used yet.
The monochrome line art was quite different from how I used to draw, but color is also very different.
The way of drawing is completely different.
I couldn't redraw the manuscript, so I gave up on that, but the image above is me practicing with a modern way of applying color.
The way I've drawn pictures with Momorisu and the way of drawing these modern manga-style pictures are complete opposites. (Whether I'm used to the modern style or not is another matter.)
My previous drawings were created from nothing, by groping around and searching for the form.
For example, it felt like carving wood by hand, gradually creating or giving birth to something.
But this manga style, it's like the form is already there, like there's already a humanoid sculpture, and you're just applying color to it.
You can't paint unless the form is decided first... or rather, you can't really correct the form later.
That might just be a problem with my skill level, though.
But it's interesting.
It's a completely different way of drawing.
I thought it was impossible to draw manga because I can't draw by hand anymore, but it seems I can still draw if it's digital.
Besides, I want to delve deeper into this new way of coloring.
I feel like I've gotten my hands on a new toy.
