Thinking about how to get clicks on note from a bookstore clerk's perspective
I have worked at a large bookstore for nearly five years, where I was in charge of creating displays for business books, specialized books, and paperbacks. I miss those days of constantly checking and refining layouts, as sales change significantly depending on how things are arranged.
Here is what I worry about when I post on note. It is...
I want to make articles that people can't help but click on
Just as there are books you find yourself picking up for some reason among many others on a shelf, I want to create articles that get chosen from the list view because they somehow catch the eye.
So, let's think about it.
I want to apply bookstore display techniques to my note posts.
In the note list view, the eye-catching image and the title stand out.
In the case of a bookstore, a 'flat display' where the cover is clearly visible is probably the closest image.
I want you to recall the flat display tables in the new arrivals section.
Alright! Let's think based on displays that show the cover
Let's pick up some techniques.
Multi-face display
The most prominent position in a bookstore.
You see new books by major authors lined up across multiple faces, right?
This is a display that is only possible because of the large number of copies in stock.
I want to do this on note.
............
No, that's impossible!
Displaying the same article multiple times isn't possible on note... boo-hoo. (Obviously)
However,
Have you noticed that in bookstore flat displays, past works and similar items are often placed nearby?
That's right.
The 'impulse buy' strategy.
This is something I can aim for.
Many series book covers are illustrated by the same artist, so you can often tell they are sequels even without the word 'sequel' written on them.
I'm going to do this.

What do you think!?
Coincidentally lined up vertically, it feels like related books.
The "click-while-you're-at-it" strategy, what do you think?
If you use hashtags with fewer articles, you might be able to create a visual where you dominate the top spots.
Vertical alignment depends on luck, but
if you have multiple articles on the same screen, you'll feel like a famous author already♪
Face-out display (Menchin)
As a display method similar to flat stacking that shows the cover, there is "face-out display (menchin)" where books are lined up using bookstands and the like.
Placing them at eye level to entice passersby to go "Hmm?" or adding height differences within a flat stack to create an accent.
In short, it's aboutstopping the gaze.
For books, it's a lovely cover...
for note, it'sa lovely eye-catching image, isn't it.
......Hmm, at times like this
I truly envy those who are good at design;
Since I can't do it, I try to choose methods that aren't used much in the genre of the article.
If there seem to be many photos, I use illustrations, or try using colors that aren't seen often.
............
I'm really not good at it, so I can't explain it;
even though I don't know how,
I'm doing my best to"stand out as much as I can"so......
(Sorry)
Repeated display
The book that was flat-stacked at the entrance is also in the new arrivals corner, and it's also face-out displayed...
and the cover that caught my eye so much
comes into my field of vision again while waiting to pay...
That's a book the bookstore is pushing. You'recompletely being targeted;
How can you do something similar to this on note?
Yes,
I really need to set my hashtags properly.
That is.
Choose hashtags that match the article content.
⇓
It will be seen repeatedly by noters who like that genre.
I suppose.
Hashtags are often chosen quite loosely, but
I really want to choose ones that properly meet the readers' needs.
Afterword
Thank you for reading until the end.
It was fun to remember the many tricks I used back in my bookstore days for the first time in a while.
It was a job I loved, but books are incredibly heavy, you know.
I hurt my wrists, hurt my elbows...
My colleagues who hurt their backs had a really hard time (and there were several of them).
So, I changed jobs, but...
Thinking about how to sell books was genuinely interesting.
Maybe that's why I'm trying it out on note now ;
I love note because I can try out various things without breaking my body ♪
